I’m starting to think that my taste for slice-of-life comes and goes with my stress level. You’d think that I’d want to watch some cool, refreshing ARIA when I’m wound up to my breaking point, but in fact the opposite is true. As a result, this month’s hit list is somewhat devoid of [...]
I swear every year I complain about the winter season, although it hasn’t been all bad. I guess my problem with winter seasons in general is that they tend to be rather top heavy; past the first few goodies, the rest are typically duds. The stuff I’ve been enjoying this month has been [...]
This month I pretty much agree with Kabitzin on which series are rockin’. Code Geass mixes elite schools, mechs, and Shinn/Kira rivalry in one sweet package, while Otoboku hits the spot for shameless harem action. Hataraki Man scores points with its unique subject matter and botox injected lips, and Chevalier continues to dish [...]
I know there isn’t a ton of evidence to support this, but I’ve felt like October was the month of the trap. What with Lia/D’Eon, Mizuho, etc. one never knows when a phallus could just spring out. Trick or treat! Yeah… Anyway, I’ve been having a hard time keeping up with [...]
I can’t believe that September’s almost come and gone! I’m gradually slogging through my backlog, and I really hope to pick up more series to blog in the Fall season. Although I watched quite a few, the only series I blogged about was Zero no Tsukaima. I’m looking forward to several strong [...]
I’ve made minimal progress in clearing out the massive backlog, and I still haven’t checked out many of the semi-new series that I’ve been eyeing for the past few months. Playing Super Robot Taisen Original Generations hasn’t really helped either; I’ve been glued to its addictive blend of mecha anime homage and stat-fiddling goodness. [...]
Being out of town for so long, it’s not easy plunging back into the mix. Posts have been a little slower lately, as I’ve been trying to catch up on my massive backlog! Most of the top shows have been going very strong (this summer has been awesome thus far), so there wasn’t [...]
Lately I find that I’m more partial to stockpiling episodes instead of watching them, hoping for a rewarding marathon payout at the end. Consequently, I’m becoming better at cleaning out my hard drive. Maybe I should just splurge and get yet another one. Without further ado, here are my slim pickings amongst [...]
While the summer season is still young, it’s been a mixed bag thus far. While some shows have risen above my high expectations (Honey & Clover II) and others have pleasantly surprised (Zero no Tsukaima, Chevalier), a few have failed to meet even minimal expectations (like the horrid Tsuyokiss). Overall, there are plenty [...]
This month has been so damn sweet, with many of the top series stepping up their game and delivering great episodes. Since I’m carrying a rather light load going into the next season, I’m excited to see what the summer season will bring!

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: The concert in episode [...]
Next month I’m making a commitment to try all those odd series that have been accumulating on my hard drive. Except for Ergo Proxy, which I plan to marathon once it finishes. Saiunkoku looks fairly ripe for examination, as does The Third.

With Rise of Legends chomping down on my free time, I haven’t been exploring as many new series as I usual. However, now that I have given up trying to beat one Toughest AI with two human players, I have more time to devote to anime.

Nana: So frickin’ good - [...]
It’s great to be back, and it’s even better to have so many great series to choose from. I can’t remember the last time I had to make tough decisions to narrow down my list of favorite series in a month, but it’s a wonderful feeling.

Ouran Host Club: Ender [...]
