I didn’t watch any Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann this month, so it doesn’t make the list; however, from what I’ve seen and read, it looks like the timeskip is going to be awesome. Meanwhile, I’ve watched a bit of the summer series, but have yet to decide on a series to pick up now [...]
So far most of the series I’m watching are going strong. I even went and marathoned Kekkaishi. Although Yoshimori has a tendency to suddenly become all fugly looking (production value woes), I’ve really been enjoying the story so far. I also marathoned the first 6 episodes of Hitohira. Hitohira is less [...]
Once more, it’s been a great month of anime. This roaring summer of my youth has brought back the fiery love of anime that I feared lost during the cold, boring winter. Quite a few shows have been excellent, and I’ve yet to even watch all the series that have come out!
Top Five [...]
Thank goodness this season is shaping up to be a winner. Even the mediocre series are actually watchable. Although I have to say, the 3rd Naruto Movie was even worse than I expected. Glam-rock evildoers aside, the animation looked like it was done by the C-team.
Local Maxima:
Seirei no Moribito: Amazing [...]
Oh hells yeah, this month has been so much better than most of the crap I’ve had to endure through winter. I feel refreshed, and it’s good to know that none of the series from before this season made it to my top 5 (mostly because there hasn’t been much Code Geass). I [...]
It is a good thing that two of the heavy shounen hitters returned to manga-material this month. Naruto’s return from filler hell was especially welcome, since thus far the manga has been outstanding, and the anime seems to have stopped sucking. Bleach is always fun for some constant battling action, but the manga [...]
I’m a little bit late with this month’s list, but it’s been hard staying interested in some of the stale series out there. And as poor as this season was, I don’t see a whole lotta hope for next season; if anything January/February’s premieres look worse. Anyone have any suggestions on what new [...]
As a wonderful year of tsunderes and traps passes us by, I thought I’d mention some notable series that aired at some point in 2006. I’m pretty lax with my time-restriction and the list isn’t ranked. Still, I had some really fond memories while writing this post.
Magikano: Super-stupid harem comedy done right.
Fate/Stay Night: [...]
There really hasn’t been much action on the anime front due to the holidays and Rengou Vs. ZAFT II. However, I felt compelled to at least mention my latest favorite!
Just What the Doctor Ordered:
Ghost Hunt: This rather niche series didn’t appear to have a very strong premise on the outset, but some strong recommendations [...]
It’s been a slow month for fansubs (understandably), but what has come out has been largely good. No Hataraki Man releases, but I took Enders advice to try Soukou no Strain and really enjoyed it. I am starting to feel the pull for more straight-up shounen series, as sometimes I want to put [...]
I’m starting to think that my taste for slice-of-life comes and goes with my stress level. You’d think that I’d want to watch some cool, refreshing ARIA when I’m wound up to my breaking point, but in fact the opposite is true. As a result, this month’s hit list is somewhat devoid of [...]
I swear every year I complain about the winter season, although it hasn’t been all bad. I guess my problem with winter seasons in general is that they tend to be rather top heavy; past the first few goodies, the rest are typically duds. The stuff I’ve been enjoying this month has been [...]
This month I pretty much agree with Kabitzin on which series are rockin’. Code Geass mixes elite schools, mechs, and Shinn/Kira rivalry in one sweet package, while Otoboku hits the spot for shameless harem action. Hataraki Man scores points with its unique subject matter and botox injected lips, and Chevalier continues to dish [...]
