You catch me at yo LOCAL-PARTY!
It’s another Sunshine Day for the Hidamari-Gang, but today is quite different for Yuno and Miyako. At school, they receive their engrish Grammar Test results and Yuno totally bombs it. They were all planning to go to an Amusement Park in celebration, but since Yuno did such a terrible job, they had to follow the script and help her pass the make-up exam. Thanks to the Power of Script-Reading Friendship, Yuno scores a 159 minus 59, but not without breaking it in half and having to use extra magnets to post it on her refrigerator (awww).

"Oh no! It's broken!" (*BA DUM PSH*) and/or "You spent $1,590 on this piece of crap?"
Later in the episode, the Landlord and the Hidamari-Gals freshin’ up the apartments for two new freshgirlsmen moving in. After cleaning up and helping the movers lug in the luggage, they all decide to eat out when they should have waited for the new tenants to arrive. Nazuna, having not read the script, finds no one there to greet her and cries herself to sleep. While crying, another new tenant (Nori) comes ringing her doorbell, but she is too sad (or lazy) to open the door. The Hidamari-Posie come back home and notice that these new characters also have widely-shaped-rectangular-heads, which could only mean one thing: THEY ARE THE NEW RESIDENTS!!! Long story short, they chit-chat and Yuno takes a bath like she always does in every episode. THE END!

"Did ya hear, Miyako? We don't have to abuse the Curves in Photoshop anymore!"
Impressions
Watch out WASHOI, the Soulja Boy is making a COMEBACK there’s a new dance in town! As much as people comPLAIN that the new OP was too PLAIN… Okay, honestly it was pretty plain for a Hidamari Sketch OP sequence, (especially those dull CG star-credits) but knowing SHAFT they may add a bit more later on. Speaking of fancy new technology, there seems to be some stylistic changes, like blurred-out shadows for the noses (occasionally), and an art-style that is reminiscent of the manga.
Like the x365 Specials, the playfulness of the show is still apparent in this season, and it seems like anyone can jump in for this season /advertisement. Speaking of advertisement, I noticed that they listed my birthday in one of the eye-catches! Another section that I enjoyed were the Yuno-Engrish (Poh-tay-toe! Cawwrawwwt! AWNIAWN!!!), Yuno ripping her test (she LET IT RIP like a BeyBlade on Cracker-Jacks; I’M JUST SAYIN’, MAAANN!), and Hiro’s honesty towards Sae. It reminded me of the first time I met Kabitzin and Smash-Brotali!
Since I haven’t read the manga, I must ask: are those two characters from the manga or completely new for this season? They seem to share similiar traits to Yuno and Miyako (Nazuna is shy / Nori is energetic, from what I can tell at least), so I hope they aren’t complete copy-paste characters. Either way, this was an impressive opener, though I wanted more from the new characters. Hopefully we’ll check out those racks in great detail next week!

I write Right-handedly, cause he does the same. "Why did you leave me?", cries my Left-hand. "He Left me, I Left you, the time is Right, let's move on. Jesus was a Gangsta Jigg. He's bustin' for the Customers

Check out Manga Volume 4, which should be showing up in stores January 26th. Nori and Nazuna aren’t copy-paste types. One’s more serious than Sae, and the other makes Yuno look… confident, but her background’s not like the other girls’.
Nazuna does seem like she been sheltered her whole life. Cheers to her for trying to be more independent!
(EDIT: Opps! Forgot to hit the reply button (this comment is for Haesslich) Guess I was too excited since I thought no one was gonna watch this show! Btw, good to see the Hidamari-Crowd here!)
ALRIGHT!!! I’m glad they’re different from the original cast, and I’m also surprised to hear one of them (I’m assuming Nori) is more serious than Sae. That should be interesting
On a side note, I was checking out bits of the manga, and now I’ll definitely have to add that to my collection (US version of course… it’ll take some time to get used to “Sunshine Sketch”)

AMV Hell 2. “Internationale” with the Azumanga girls was rather memorable, especially Sakaki as a young Russian woman fighting to defend her homeland against invasion. And yes, they’re… interesting. They pulled the first story out of the manga, looks like, although the Olive episode may be from the salon incident in Volume 3.
They happen to be one of my favorite treats! Speaking of Olive, though this might sound useless and random, I really liked Miyako’s Olive coupon! (/design-type-whore). No really, it was a treat for the eyes!
Dude, don’t remind me
Also, I thought I might add:
Did anyone notice the Dis-colorization of Miyako’s Hair?
(It really did happen, honest! I was just wondering if it was a mistake or some sort of hidden pun or something…)
That’s so true, I thought it was another character for a minute there! And Miyako had her (I think middle) school uniform. I thought it was very random considering that they had to do some cleaning, and her uniform was her choice.
Tru dat, brah! TheBigN only cares for dem blonde-types, KNAM SAYIN’?!?! So Miyako changing hair colors would be an absolute no-no! Hope this mess up is cleared soon.
Also, concerning the uniform, I think it was featured in a past episode (forgot which season). I guess they added it in to please the fans (I know one guy who is happy
)
I enjoyed the very beginning of the opening, but then I saw stars. I don’t know what happened next. I really liked Yuno’s english, especially the onion part. I really was hoping for more content regarding the next characters. And Nazuna’s parents were very nice, I’ve never met parents who would take out four strangers (without their daughter I must add) out for lunch. And omg the new characters are taller than Yuno, lol!!!
I think it was because Miyako tries to spend as little as possible, meaning she’s willing to skip a bath or two (I think). I’m really not sure why they don’t feature the other characters.
Hmm, yea. Now that I think about it, it does seem sort of rude, but on the flip side you know those times when you just gotta eat and you’ll punch any MOTHA-FUWKA in the face just to get that last laffy-taffy-muffin-barbecue-sandwich? I believe this was one of those times. Perhaps they need more nourishment for those heads or something. I’m a pro at this stuff, so come to me with any questions! >=D
Just checking, but I don’t ever remember saying that. Can you pull up where I said that? :P
PRETTY BRAHSOME PARTY, MAAAAAANNN!!! Anyone would have forgotten! and… I think we should protect the innocence of the children! We must not let them know of your abusive drunken “let’s-play-Doctor” ways!
Also, good luck on the Doctorin’! Hope you have enough time to at least watch HS! =3
You must’ve missed the bathhouse episode with Chika and Yoshinoya-sensei then. Plenty of it there. Or the last ep of x365 in the regular season, where all the girls sang the OP song in their bathtubs.
LMAO! Ohhh man, the singing part made me cringe! (no offense, but it was pretty silly, even for Hidamari Sketch!). I loved the bouncy animation, though =3
Also, we need more HS-Doujins, STAT! DOUGH-ZAH, DOUGH-ZAH!!!
Jesus: Google it. I for one could do with fewer of those, since they tend to involve some random guy…
OMG please tell me its not what it sounds like!! Yea, the only HS doujin I’ve seen is with death note, apparently Ryuk becomes friends with them.
That’s the only clean one I’ve seen that exists. There are… others. I’ve seen a few pages from them. :P
@jetbird1126: Haha, I loved the Death Note crossover! Especially the part where Miyako compares Ryuk to Vegeta (of DBZ-fame).
@Haesslich: HOW COULD YOU!?!! UR JUST LIKE TheBigN!!! You better hide those dirty mags before someone finds out, knam sayin’? =3
Well, there’s one in which Miyako eats some aphrodisiac-infused chocolate, it was translated by SaHa
Also, I’m sure they’ll fill the OP later, at least it was better than SZS’ placeholders
What is this?!!? The Hidamari Pr0n Section?!?! I’LL HAVE NONE OF THIS!!!
Yea, I still need to catch up on that show (the third season at least). I hear there’s more Normal-Girl, which is always a plus

Edit: wow, I keep forgetting to hit reply…
Jesus: If you go to Danbooru, you can’t avoid them. :P
Fixed! =3 Also, I checked recently when I was researching for Akari reference… yea :<
I honestly can’t stand the anime. D: I think it ruins the simplistic cuteness that was the manga and tries way too hard to be another Lucky Star. D:<
WHOAAAA?!?!?! That’s quite a lot of moxie you have there, especially when you bring that comment to a bunch of Hidamari Fanboys!
All joking aside, I find it interesting because I’ve never seen a fan who loved the manga but hated the anime. I’ve only seen those who praise both or only watched the anime (*raises hand*). From your stance, I’m assuming you started off with the manga and then checked out the anime (I could be wrong), which would be quite different from starting as an anime fan and then moving to the original source. In fact, I think a lot of Hidamari fans were brought into the fandom by the anime and then transitioned to the manga.
I’m not saying your opinion is wrong. I just find it so different from the masses… and I like that!
Yen Press is definitely getting my monies this year!
Yeah…it’s bad because the anime uses the same jokes the manga does, which completely defeats the purpose of adapting the manga because the jokes aren’t funny. After all, they’re from the manga, and it’s not at all simplistically cute even if it’s just like the manga, because it’s animated. And the jokes aren’t funny in the manga anyways, since they’re not funny here in the anime which is JUST LIKE IT for the most part.
