Summary:
Canaan is trudging along and puking at the thought of Alphard owning her, while Maria mooches food on Yunyun’s house boat. As expected, Yunyun is working for Liang, because all Borners need special medicine to stay alive. Liang volunteers for Alphard’s plan to infect the undersecretary of Japan with the Ua virus, and in turn Liang tasks Yunyun with the grunt work. Because Yunyun merely has two appendixes, she’s considered an expendable piece, and Liang doesn’t care if Yunyun gets killed by Canaan in the process; in fact, Yuri has already given Canaan the file on “Sun Yun Mei.”
Yunyun barely passes the job interview at Cosplay Santana because of her Borner connection with Hakkoo, but soon finds she lacks some of the tools of the trade. Yunyun can’t drug the undersecretary’s drink because he only wants to drink from Hakkoo’s hands, leaving Cummings to inject the target during a fake acupuncture session. Yunyun then gets ambushed outside by Canaan, before Maria comes by and makes Canaan feel guilty for being a murderer. Desperate now, Yunyun takes Maria hostage with some dynamite so as to launch a kamikaze attack on Canaan, but Canaan disarms the dynamite (which was still lit underwater…) and becomes friends with Yunyun after reconciling with Maria. Minoru notices the Borner mark on Yunyun’s butt, and asks her to be a correspondent for them. Later that night, someone slips a sealed envelope under Minoru’s hotel door.
Reaction:
We already know that Maria’s dad came up with an anti-virus so why are the Borners still working for Liang? I’m pretty sure that Yunyun can be saved by making out with Maria since Maria is chock full of anti-virus. For that matter, how is Hakkoo still ok if she’s not taking the yellow and pink pills that Liang has? And what extra organs did GSK and Hakkoo get? Anyway, I’m starting to think that plot will not be a strong point in this show, but I’m ok with watching this show as an action flick with nice choreography. I thought the humor was very good in this episode, and Yunyun ended up being more interesting than I expected. We’ll probably get some triple agent action going, since Liang doesn’t realize that Maria has added Yunyun to her little harem (although Canaan is the top haremette, whereas Yunyun appears to be the community haremette).
I still like weird, tiny, Liang (haha, why did she eat the photo to recycle it?) and immature Canaan, but Maria is wearing on me. She doesn’t even do any reporting work; Minoru is stuck doing everything. I also can’t believe Maria cheated on Canaan and got an extra key for Yunyun’s pad. I thought for sure that Canaan would kill Yunyun when she discovered the infidelity, but somehow Maria reminded Canaan: don’t hate the player, hate the game. I do have to admit that I was a little angry at Liang this episode when she ignored Yunyun’s hints about reimbursement. Come on, those were totally business expenses!

About Kabitzin: One of the founders of Sea Slugs, I handle most of the blog admin tasks while wearing my I AM BOSS shirt. I like my action series well-choreographed, and my romance series extra trashy. I also have a soft spot for puns. |

I couldn’t get behind anybody’s story. I really want to like this one, which is why I’m still commenting here. I had thought the previous episode’s confrontation between Canaan and Alphard was interesting relative to everything else going on, but this episode felt like it pissed it all away for me. I don’t want to drop this show. Sorry if I’m being such a wet blanket about it.
I don’t know if they’re trying to go for one big revelation that will make the previous episodes relevant, but I can feel your pain. I liked Yunyun’s story, but the story pace and directing have felt a little meh for me so far. I feel like the problem is that Maria is soooooo corny compared to everyone else that it makes it difficult for me to take a lot of the more important story aspects seriously.
At least Maria only said ‘Sugoi!’ twice in this episode.
Maria’s ahoge boner never gets tired.
Hrm… That analysis sounded like Jesus159159159 wrote it. :P
I wouldn’t think that photos would have much nutrition value, but many Liang runs on something no other human has. :3
Lol Jesus159159159 was here for so long that it’s not unthinkable some of his styled rubbed off on Kabitzin, or rather Jesus’s style is developed from Kabitizin’s.
Liang is so great, she doesn’t even to dry herself after taking bath; it’s like the water just magically evaporates from her body or something.
When you’re hot, you need the evaporation to cool down!
Again, thanks TheBigN for always typing/pasting all those 159s =3, but seriously, if you’re gonna mention me, make sure to PIMP IT OUT! Also, having read your comment, I really want to read what Kabi wrote, but it is my policy that if I am blogging the same show as Kabitzin and haven’t seen or blogged the episode yet, I have no right to read his post! TJ would be correct that my style was greatly influenced by Kabitzin (I’ve been here two years, I had to pick up something! =P Although sometimes I do think some of my powers have rubbed into Kabitzin as well…. I think) so if I were to read his post, there’s a slight chance I may accidentally steal one of his puns/jokes!
Ya see, when episodic bloggers blog the same show, IT’S A WAR DAMMIT!!! I WON’T LOSE TO YOU KABITZIN! I’LL BE MAKIN’ MAH COMEBACK!!!… right after I’m done packing for my move (as in, moving to a new house… Moving sucks!)
also @TJ:
You posted at 11:59pm while also mentioning me! That’s equivalent to taking my hand in marriage! TheBigN, take note! =3
I was wondering if you had been kidnapped or something, lol. Good luck with the move! I also feel the same way about reading episodic posts before I’ve seen the episode, especially if I am blogging the same series.
lol I posted at 8:59 Pacific Time (I think). Would have been better if I posted at 1:59 (in Sea Slugs! timezone) haha.
Pffft…we all know Canaan was tossing her lunch because of morning sickness after her night of PASSION with Alphard…
Dayum! Alphard nee-sama!
I nominate Liang for Worst Boss Of The Month. Not that her “S” predispositions hadn’t been made pretty clear from the beginning (and weren’t generally scenery-chewingly hilarious), but she sure knows how to demotivate underlings…
What about the meetings though? Maybe only straight females are demotivated by her?
Oh, she seems to run a tight enough ship all right. Seems to have held down the fort quite well while Alphard was counting tiles and all. But you clearly don’t want to be considered “expendable and useless” when she’s calling the shots…
Regarding the company meetings though, seems to me Cummings tends to do most of the talking in them ? IIRC Liang’s officially his “secretary” and all; she probably can’t be bothered to negotiate with assorted horrible little proles if the job can be delegated to someone else.
Actually I got the impression she honestly didn’t give a damn in the first place if Yun-Yun achieved anything of note and/or died in the attempt, given that the Plan B involving Cummings was switched into so smoothly and how singularly nonplussed she was by the epic failure of Y^2′s hilarious attempt at kamikazing Canaan.
I’d say she just got bored with bullying her and tossed her to the wolves for the lulz, and to rid the company’s personnel roster of some essentially unnecessary chaff. Lean times and all, you know. Must axe jobs.
…also since when did you start considering Maria’s Haremette #2 “straight” ?
OT, this weeks Horrible Kabi Pun seems to me to be even worse than most, which is something of an achievement. You’re an evil man, you.
Keep up the good work.
Though, granted, I haven’t passed by for a while and thus may have missed some even more terrifying eldricht horrors Man Was Not Meant To Read…
I try.
I dunno, I finally watched this episode and it seems to be picking up again. Wasn’t exactly SUGOI but I feel like we’ve been set up for something to finally, I dunno… happen.
Yes, go on…
