Summary:
Claudia convinces Daisuke to give Inferno 3 days to catch the assassin, and invites the Godo group to Inferno’s executive meeting. She figures that Isaac will have to make his move then, in order to prevent the Godo group from becoming affiliated with Inferno; this sets up the perfect opportunity for Reiji to do some counter-sniping. Reiji is not so sure about the plan, but then he notices that Cal has Gump-like skills in assembling/disassembling firearms. He takes her along for a tour of the town, looking for ribbons/flags that might give away sniper preparations.
Cal proves to be clever and perceptive, and she spots some yellow ribbons that Isaac’s man Randy Weber has tied nearby as makeshift weather vanes. Reiji rewards her with a pocket watch she had eying, and agrees to take her along as his supporter on the mission. When Cal spots the sniper, Reiji is unable to fire until he confirms that it is not Ellen; this leads to a slight bullet graze on his cheek, but he is able to take Randy out with one shot. Unfortunately, several blocks away, Ellen takes a break from her Xbox gaming to fire her AT/AM rifle all from the comfort of her couch. The shell blows up the statue behind Daisuke, and throws the meeting into a confused, tense standoff.
Reaction:
It seems like Scythe Master already knew that Isaac wanted to prevent the Godo group from entering, and has been working with Toru to screw Daisuke and Claudia over (while weakening Inferno at the same time). That or Scythe Master always hated that marble statue. I am sure that Toru is a traitor, because it clearly takes all his strength not to call Daisuke a retarded meathead. Also it’s good to see it confirmed once and for all that Ellen is back. I guess all that oil and massage helped, because even after getting shot through the heart, the girl still has it.
Cal and Reiji had a nice thing going, but I was giggling so hard when they spotted Randy behind the water tower. Wasn’t it fairly obvious that the hands holding the rifle were, shall we say, much more tan than hands belonging to a little Asian girl? BTW, this action is hinting so much at a Cal-Ellen showdown that it wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Ellen didn’t kill Judy. That way the three of them can team up and wear flashy outfits to overthrow Inferno together.

About Kabitzin: One of the founders of Sea Slugs, I handle most of the blog admin tasks while wearing my I AM BOSS shirt. I like my action series well-choreographed, and my romance series extra trashy. I also have a soft spot for puns. |

I wonder how old Cal will be when she enters into a showdown with Ellen, considering her inert talent and training or lack of it at the moment.
I LOL’d at this: “That way the three of them can team up and wear flashy outfits to overthrow Inferno together.” So true. So very true.
I lol’ed at the middle caption ^_^
The decision to verify the sniper’s authority is a key decision point in the game, by the way. If you simply shoot, the outcome will essentially be the same, but you indicate that you don’t care enough about Ein – so no chapter 3.
This scene isn’t over, by the way. Ep16 will start with a big bang.
It would be hard for Shiga to be a traitor when he isn’t hiding his contact with Scythe Master. He doesn’t even know Scythe Master by that name.
Actually when the pocket watch came out, I was just waiting for it to play the musical chime from Noir and Kabitzin to go NOOOOOOOEEESSSSSS!!
They played music box music in 16 when Cal brought out the pocket watch, which actually made no sense at all.
