Inferno gets wind of Scythe Master’s plans to flee from San Francisco, and Claudia adds Reiji to Lizzie’s interception group. Although Lizzie isn’t happy about the addition, Reiji unloads 15/16 of his clip, giving himself one bullet to kill Scythe Master and insuring the safety of Lizzie’s team. Meanwhile, Scythe Master and Ellen get to the pier, where he is to meet Colonel Roshnenko (who calls Scythe Master “Dr. Guiseppe”). Scythe Master is treating Ellen more like a pawn than ever, slapping her when she starts questioning his orders and giving her the crappy gun that cannot be fired repeatedly.
Reiji does his best to convince Ellen that if she lets him kill Scythe Master Inferno will forgive her, but she is still loyal to the bastard. Her loyalty is rewarded with a rematch with Lizzie while her master runs for safety. Reiji then corners Scythe Master, but takes so long showing off how crazy he is that Ellen has enough time to run the length of 3+ cargo containers, get in front of Reiji, and block his one bullet with her heart. Reiji is so stunned he drops into the orz position as Ellen falls into the ocean, and Scythe Master riddles Reiji with bullets. As Reiji falls into the ocean, he remembers promising Ellen that he would help her go back to being an ordinary girl who can smile again.
Reaction:
Meh, it’s definite that Reiji is still alive since we see him wash up on shore, and I’m 95% sure that Ellen is alive, too. If Reiji can survive multiple gunshot wounds at point blank range and a nice leisurely ocean swim, then so can Ellen. It’s interesting that Scythe Master told Ellen this would be her last job and mentions creating something new to Col. Roshnenko; it must be pretty good if it makes Ellen expendable. Meanwhile, I have to give Scythe Master some credit for giving massages so good that Ellen will do anything to be his Ein.
There were some questionable moments during the various gun fights this episode. Everyone was so impressed with Reiji when he unloaded all his bullets, but for all they knew, he could have had a few magazines in his pockets. Meanwhile, Col Roshnenko has the crappiest snipers ever; they all bunched up together and then got taken out by Lizzie with a handgun! WTF is that?! I also have to dock Ellen some points for her strategy to protect Scythe Master. If her rPmm is so fast, why didn’t she just tackle Reiji into the ocean instead of running several body lengths past him and then jumping in front of the bullet? The tackle strategy would have gotten them both away from Inferno, and protected Scythe Master.
