I don’t think that can count, because he didn’t save Japan from itself, he saved it from the other Selecao. I’m thinking he’s still alive because he gets a certain amount of time before his plan is deemed a failure or a success. Too bad Hajime didn’t get that luxury. Hajime finished getting the hospital set up and once it get recognized as a legit place to be, the Supporter showed up (probably).

As to WHY Akira isn’t dead, it’s because he DID save Japan. He stopped all 60 missiles from destroying their country!

I’m a bit surprised that he wiped his memory the first time too. Maybe he has some kind of tragic past where he can’t handle any kind of sadness. At least we never have to watch any boring Akira emo episodes, so I guess I should be thankful for the memory-wipe program.
