Eden of the East 08

Summary:

Akira has a nightmare about Kuroha tearing apart one of those Johnny-skeletons, and wakes up to learn that Satoshi was safe. Satoshi was at a drinking party the whole time, and a rapist simply happened to steal Satoshi’s bag and get caught by Kuroha. Satoshi refuses to stay in EotE if Akira joins up, and on his way to work he snaps a picture of Akira and posts it on the EotE website. Instead of getting some dirt on Akira, however, Satoshi’s post receives tons of comments, each identifying Akira by a different name.

Akira stops by with Yuusei’s phone, but Kazuomi says that only Itazu Yutaka (aka “Pantsu”) can repair the phone. 2 years ago, Yutaka lost his only pair of slacks and since then has been a recluse working on his Society Computer. Akira is able to persuade Yutaka to help with the phone by revealing some detailed Selecao information (as well as the fact that there are 12, not 11, Selecao). Meanwhile, Satoshi is taking a long detour on his way to work, and discovers something at the Toyosu Multiplex that makes him fear for Saki’s safety.

Reaction:

I can’t say this was the most exciting episode, since it seemed mostly like a setup and connecting affair. While Satoshi said he would have backed off if Saki had told him she had a BF, he’s done exactly the opposite in stalking Akira (instead of going to work). Although his actions are understandable, we viewers know his motives are desperate and shady. Satoshi was annoying enough when he was constantly pestering Saki, yet he continues to pine for Saki even though the two of them have no chemistry at all.

I was intrigued that Saki was willing to buy Yutaka some sweat pants, even though he didn’t even know her name. I’m not sure if this is because she is a kind person or if it’s because she is afraid to step into the room and find Yutaka in a speedo. Yutaka seems like your typical jerk-recluse, but I can’t wait to see what he finds on Yuusei’s phone. BTW, if the Selecao phones have no power connector, how does Akira keep his phone charged?

Look at the battery indicator of the phone.
    You see a symbol.
Search for what the symbol means.
You conclude the phone doesn’t need to be charged.
