Jil’s party prepares for the frozen wasteland of the Shrine of Emery, but are surprised to find it has become a luxurious resort. CEO Melt has become enormously rich through a pyramid scheme that piggybacked off his fame; in return for capital, he adds investors to his band of 131 132 heroes that defeated Druaga. The resort is powered and staffed by ropers that were imported (*cough* kidnapped and enslaved) from outside the Tower; the ropers are peaceful as long as their children are treated well. Instead of helping Jil out, Melt sells them out to the Golden Knights in return for a pyramid scheme permit.
As the Golden Knights are marching Kai away, the baby roper in her shirt wiggles out and gets stomped by Uragon. This enrages the ropers who gattai and form a massive roper. The entire resort is wiped out, but Kai turns into her teenage-looking version and casts a spell to keep all the people safe. Melt’s pretty pissed off about losing 3.752 billion gilda and actually attacks the party, but then he accidentally steps on a baby roper and gets taken out. With that, Jil’s party advances on to where they defeated Druaga last season. Meanwhile, Uragon forces Melt to travel with the Golden Knights and help them track Jil down.
Reaction:
The thing that bothered me even more than Melt’s betrayal was how Kai immediately flipped the baby roper over and tried to sodomize it with her finger. WTF is her problem exactly? Sodomy is seriously the only thing on Kai’s mind! As for Jil, it seems his forlorn love for Kaaya does not get in the way of his fantasy of Fatina getting tentacled hard by ropers. One can only imagine how Jil and Fatina will keep things exciting should they ever get married…
As for Melt, his betrayal is not exactly shocking, but I had forgotten what an ass he is. I’m sure he will get a chance to save the party, but this probably won’t redeem him in my eyes. I feel Coopa should shoulder some of the blame, especially since she had to know that Melt was a slaver. I also can’t believe that Coopa didn’t sign Melt up for some kind of insurance. These are the kind of mistakes you make when you move your ribbon-bow from your head to your chest. I figure this is betrayal #2, and that Neeba and Kaaya betraying Jil only counted as one betrayal. I guess it is a good thing Jil grabbed Fatina or he’d be short on magical DPS right now.
