Keisei checks himself out of Rika’s care and heads to Bishop Gon to ask about Minai’s fate. While the Bishop won’t respond, the Great Bishop Geika (Kamiu Shinze) gives Keisei the 411. Keisei is suspicious about why Kougon Cult’s top two priests are together, but heads to investigate how the auditor was able to reach Minai before anyone else. This is how Keisei is able to discover that Sadahiro is the auditor. This prompts Keisei to steal some Sutra from his teacher Takamine Sougen, although Takamasa decides to go train at Mt. Gosou instead.
Hazama and his centipedes pay a visit to a shady monk named Ooyatsuka, who turns out to be a shikabane. Hazama’s superior, the quiet, unbalanced girl Hokuto, puts an end to Ooyatsuka as a message to the Kougon Cult. When Akasha later visits these strangely powerful shikabane for help in his quest to eliminate SH and the Kougon Cult, Hazama introduces the group as the Shichisei. Moreover, Hokuto is the most powerful and bitchy shikabane ever, representing all that is evil in the world. At the same time, Makina finally wakes up from her nightmare, and it’s clear that the Shichisei is to blame for the murder of the Hoshimura family.
Reaction:
I was surprised that they brought Nozomi back again, as Ouri tried to somehow turn her straight. I still can’t tell who Ouri really is. I sorta suspected that he was Makina’s brother from the photo, but I’m not sure the ages match up. Makina looks the same as when she was slaughtered by Hokuto, but Ouri was 3 when Keisei took him in. The many-eyed cat also throws me off, as multiple eyes usually suggest a shikabane (and one of the Shichisei had many eyes).
The part with Ooyatsuka didn’t make that much sense, except perhaps to show that the Shichisei were more than just shikabane (and elitist). The worst part of this episode had to be when Sadahiro packed up and ditched Partenon on Ouri’s pay day. What a bastard; I could forgive killing Minai, but this is going too far! Anyway, I’m really glad I gave this show another chance, because it’s starting to really get interesting!
