Half a year has passed since Druaga was defeated and a lot has changed. King Gilgamesh moved the capital to Meskia, renamed the Tower, fired Kelb for disagreeing with Lady Amina’s plan to have the King claim the victory over Druaga, and began behaving oddly. Kelb started a tavern where Jil and Fatina stayed, Utu cast off his mask and became the pro wrestler Captain Morrow, Jil sat around drinking tomato juice, and Fatina became a guide on a cheesy tour. Nobody cares about the Mythical Tower (which disappeared), and all the monsters have vanished.
Several parties are now chasing a young girl named Kai. Kai claims to be the Queen and the 1st Priestess of Ishtar, and she is chased by the bumbling Lord Uragon and the Golden Knights as well as a mysterious archer/sniper lady and her servants. Jil and Fatina take time out of a pseudo-date to help Kai escape, and Kai shows Jil a terrible vision of what will happen to Kaaya if Jil does not take Kai to the Mythical Tower. With Jil, Utu, Kai, and Fatina the DPS and tanking seem to be covered so it’s probably time to get some healing and support for more climbing.
Reaction:
This was a bit of a confusing first episode, though I’m sure we will get answers in time. I’m not sure why Kaaya would take her sweet time getting clean and donning a white outfit before going on a long and dirty journey. And who was the redhead spying on them or the guy stabbing Kaaya in the vision? Kai is also very strange in that she can make herself younger and yet she looks like the spirit Kai that Jil meets at the end of the goofy video game. It’s surely no coincidence that Kai and Kaaya have very similar names, and I want to know if Neeba and Kaaya count as two betrayals or just one.
Speaking of betrayal, that date with Fatina and Jil was deliciously awkward. Just as Utu suggested, I think Fatina wants to jump Jil’s bone cause he resembles Neeba; too bad Jil still seems to be in love with Kaaya. It was humorous how Jil could not recognize Utu at all, and I loved the OP sequence. The one surprising thing was that Neeba (after hitting a HR off poor loli-Kai) would actually pitch to Jil; I thought for sure he would bring the heat inside and nail Jil “accidentally.”
