Summary:
Ouri calls up Sumitori and puts him on speaker phone; the sound of Sumitori’s voice and the memories of Bamboo Blade are too much for Mitsuyoshi, and he drops his shikabane form. This allows Minai to take Mitsuyoshi out without taking damage from his curse. Minai is pretty pleased with herself, and personally visits Ouri to confiscate his cell phone (as evidence) and take him to buy a new one. Unfortunately, the reason why SH are supposed to stay with their CP all the time is that if the CP dies the SH revert to shikabane.
The kendo club punks from last time spot Shuuji all alone and decide to pay him back by stabbing him to death. At least Shuuji got the promotion he wanted (posthumously). Rika’s SH, Amase Saki, goes to take Minai out, and Makina tags along to watch how a SH dies. However, now that Minai has experienced gratitude she is unable to accept death peacefully and escapes with Ouri to Partenon. As Ouri goes out as a decoy, Sadahiro mentions that Minai could become a SH again if she breaks ties with Shuuji and establishes a contract with Ouri. However, Minai is unable to do so, and so Akira has to execute her.
Reaction:
This was a pretty awesome episode. Shuuji was the crappiest CP ever, and I can’t believe he got killed by some high school kids while trying to reach Minai for a booty call. Sure Minai should have caught at least one of those 20 missed calls, but after seeing Keisei in action I don’t understand how Shuuji could be defeated by Mace. I thought it was cool how in the end Keisei ordered Rinsen to prepare the special burial cloth, as Minai died in the line of duty. Keisei’s attempts to lick Rika’s feet per Saki’s mind-reading was awesome as well. Too bad this episode pretty much guaranteed that Keisei will die this season so Ouri can take over Makina’s contract.
It was odd that Minai wouldn’t give up on Shuuji, since you’d think she would have a stronger emotional tie with her mailman or the guy who sold her her cell phone. Minai’s fate was very sad, but I still giggled when she turned into a Gorillaz-shikabane. She even had elf ears. Speaking of which, SH should really all wear Bluetooth earpieces to prevent this sort of thing from happening again. Also, it made no sense why Mitsuyoshi couldn’t harm Makina by harming himself, unless he was unable to curse her because he never hit her (due to her missing arm).

Seriously though, I really pretty sad for Minai throughout and at the end of the episode. I think she would have been a much more happier person had she been contracted with someone like Oori.
Wait till Kougon Cult gets an HR department and SH can bring sexual harassment charges against their CP. A bad CP is a liability and (literally) a death sentence! It’s too bad you can’t have a contract with more than one CP, because then it would be harder for a SH to turn into a shikabane, since you’d have to kill all the CP. And think of the awesome HP regen from a group hug!
Dude, don’t try to bring sensible ideas into animus.
