Itsuki tells Ouri to run away, and as he stumbles through the forest he finds that Makina is still fighting the shikabane-SUV (because she can’t find its brain). Keisei amputates her arm to free her from the shikabane’s grasp, and then chops a tree down on the shikabane. This reveals the true form and Makina is finally able to blow the shikabane’s brains out. Ouri thinks that Makina is just using Keisei to get to heaven, and gives her a hard time. Ouri understands that Makina and Keisei are tight, but when he asks Keisei to promise not to die, Keisei cannot make that promise.
Meanwhile, Itsuki and Takamasa get owned by the betrayer priest, Shishidou Akasha, after Itsuki touches Akasha with her dirty shikabane hime hands. Akasha uses Zadan-jutsu and that cube of blood forms a very potent medium. Keisei smartly attacks the medium, but is quickly overwhelmed by the attachment of the blood of the 108 corpses in the cube. When Akasha goes to finish him, however, Keisei reveals that he was just possum because he had downed some (Red Bull for CP) Shouma drink beforehand. The blood splashes both Akasha and Keisei and wounds both badly, forcing Akasha to retreat. Makina cries over the wounded Keisei and promises Ouri that she will protect Keisei.
Reaction:
It really seems like there’s no one that can be trusted in this series! It was interesting hearing how Akasha was once the top Kougon priest before he stole some holy Sutra and killed his own shikabane hime. Keisei also mentioned that no one loved his shikabane hime more than Akasha. Did they break up or something? Is it awkward when your shikabane hime is also your ex? I also thought it was odd that Akasha and some of the priests called Keisei, “Shikei.” Is that a nickname?
The other intriguing revelation was that Ouri’s Partenon coworker Too’oka Akira is the only shikabane hime allowed to kill humans and her CP Mibu Sadahiro is also able to put his Zadan-jutsu into her sniper bullets. Sadahiro seems to have a grudge against Akasha, so that should be an interesting future flashback. Sadahiro’s conversation makes it sound like his dad suspects Keisei’s dad of being a mole. It’s hard to believe that Akira was really going to take Keisei and Ouri out, but fortunately the battle cleared all suspicions and established Akasha as the lone villain thus far.
