Yozakura Quartet 09

Summary:

Mina and Kana can’t control their vampiric tendencies, Touka busts through her shackles and can’t control her strength, and various other youkai have been having trouble with their powers ever since last episode. Juri and Kotoha theorize that everyone who came in contact with the blobby shadows steaming from the ground was affected, and old Jiroku-san informs them the blobby shadows are shadows of previously tuned youkai. When then get a flashback of when Enjin originally got tuned for trying to make Sakurashin a youkai-only town.

Hime is practicing like mad, and Kyousuke mentions that Hime was gonna kill Enjin before Akina stopped her. Ao is really upset about this, but Akina doesn’t want to give up on Gin just yet. We get another short flashback of Enjin taking over Gin’s body, but Akina doesn’t really have a plan to get Gin back. On the other hand, the council of elders decides to remove the rest of the Nana-Gou. Yae is kinda pissed about this, but Yuuhi is steadfast in his decision to stay out of the conflict.

Reaction:

How the heck did Enjin get back after he was deported? The tuning process still mystifies me, and I don’t understand why they couldn’t have tuned Gin while he was still in control of his body. I also don’t quite understand the decision to take the trees away. It seems more like the elders are looking out for themselves, since without the trees all the youkai should be able to enter into Sakurashin.

I can kinda understand why Kyousuke was so mad at Akina this time. It’s bad enough his little sister wants to jump Akina’s bone all the time, but Touka really got hurt and Akina still has no plan to deal with Enjin. Touka is lucky that Kyousuke isn’t as much of a siscon as Gin, because if Gin had Ao tied up in bed, who knows what would have happened. Also, the idea of Kotoha wearing contact lenses and glasses at the same time makes me giggle.

After reading the manga first 3 volumes I really don’t understand why the anime is so fking messed up. It’s like they throw Enjin/Gin in any moment they need to kill 5 minutes or something :|

On the other hand, you don’t have Akina stumbling around groping people, so that’s a plus.

I skimmed the manga, and now the anime makes even less sense to me. It seems like the anime is much uglier and less humorous.

Yea I didn’t post about Yozakura 11 last night cause I wanted to read more of the manga so I’d have more to rant about when comparing the two ;)

Am I imagining things or is the scripting of this one starting to look more and more like a major train wreck…?

You’re not imagining things. I think the major issue lies with the director. So far the pacing has been kinda bad, and I’m not sure why they decided to rearrange some of the events for the anime.
