Summary:
Minamo gets a call from Youko who will be visiting in 2 weeks. Minamo takes the opportunity to complain about how hard it is to do a report without a cyberbrain. It’s a report about giving recaps of the first 13 episodes, so that’s what Minamo proceeds to do. Most of it is very boring, but I did at least learn that sleeze-stash’s real name is Jenin En.

In a complete non sequitur, Minamo ditches her report to go learn some diving with those two Ayumu brothers. Minamo wants to experience what Masamichi experiences, but the oxygen deprivation causes her to see visions of Masamichi and crappy real life footage of various fish.

Reaction:
I’m glad I was given the heads up about this episode being a recap, or else I would have been really disappointed. The staff completely mailed it in this episode, which has me hopeful that we will get an action-packed episode soon. Surely they are saving money for a reason, right?

The part where we started getting live-action footage really had me spazzing in my seat. It wasn’t even really high-quality footage! As much as I enjoy watching clownfish make out with anemones, this was by far the worst episode of Real Drive thus far. On the bright side, it was really easy to blog this episode, so I mailed it in just like the staff did.

Seeing Minamo in a neopren suit and with a pony-tail was really the only part worth watching. The underwater footage looked really terrible. They should have used some frames from “Finding Nemo” instead.

The art is so consistently good in this series that it was jarring to see the mediocre diving footage. Perhaps it was meant to look retro; I guess if you are going to cheap out, you should do it full-strength.

I didn’t even try to speculate on what they were thinking with that live-action footage, or for that matter whether they really intended for me to watch the whole thing. I just kinda gave up.
