With the Demon God gone from Shibusen for the moment, Shinigami-sama told Sid to round up the Deathscythes of the world, and 3 new Deathscythes from three different continents showed up. We have Mary, the young wannabe-pirate who is searching for love but finds men that ditch her (probably because she packs a mean punch), followed by Azusa, who is the bossy micromanager, and lastly Justin, the religious Deathscythe who can’t seem to get away from listening to his Deathpod. Maka’s dad, Stein, and the three new Deathscythes gathered in Shinigami-sama’s quarters, where Stein proceeded to describe that the Demon God’s wavelength has amplified new evils and witches to come out of the shed, so they all need to be on higher alert. Maka’s dad is deathly afraid during this meeting that Shinigami-sama would expel him from Shibusen for not being available during the fight against the Death God, but Shinigami-sama reassured him that he will be his main weapon. Shinigami-sama assigned Mary to be Stein’s new partner, sent Azusa off in search of the Demon God, and put Justin on standby.
Meanwhile, the kids are off relaxing and recovering a bit with a game of basketball, and they raised the stakes a bit to punish the team captains if their respective teams loses. If Kid’s team lost, they would shift the pictures in his room, and if Maka’s team lost, she would have to go on a date with her dad. Unfortunately, poor Maka had no idea how to play bball and her team lost badly 20 to 4, which should make for an interesting future episode when she and her dad have to hang out together. It was sort of interesting to learn that there’re deathscythes on each continent of the world, but I sorta wonder who wields them or do they just go out and handle things by themselves.
