Sayaka and her gramps attend the funeral of President Nagaya, and several days later we find that a serial killer is on the loose in the subway system. All the victims are women with short hair and glasses, and the juxtaposition of the murders and Sayaka blanking out make it seem as if Ryunka is to blame. However, this is just a red herring, as it turns out the killer is actually one of Shymalan’s marionettes that escaped.
Wouldn’t you know it but Chairman Nakasugi’s company was working on developing marionettes with Shymalan’s funding. Chairman Nakasugi didn’t realize the marionettes were combat bots, and that there was a bug in the N Program artificial intelligence. Turns out the marionette was programmed by President Nagaya to show love by smushing its face in the victim’s boobs and squeezing out the victim’s organs. Birdy is able to stop the rogue marionette, but Capella Thetis scoops up the marionette and returns it to Shymalan.
Reaction:
It was pissing me off that we still haven’t been given Capella’s name, so I just went and looked it up. Not too much happened in this episode, aside from insight into the connection between Shymalan and the Nakasugi family. It looks like Shymalan will be partnering up with Capella, but I wonder what his plan for the marionettes is. They don’t seem that powerful, and at this rate the marionettes are never going to make it out of beta.
There were so many shell games being played in this episode that I got annoyed. After a while I knew to always put off the most obvious conclusion as a red herring, but I think the technique was overused. The only good that came out of it was when the policeman spun around the ugly woman only to find it was Keisuke in drag. You gotta do what you gotta do if you want to eat.
