After escaping the grasp of Free’s trap, Stein and the young meisters make it to the underground of Shibusen to hunt down the Demon God, and even Maka’s dad manages to join in on the fun. However, Team Viper has beat them underground and has set up a difficult gauntlet for Stein and company to go through if they are to reach the Demon God. Level 1 is stacked by Medusa, followed by Chrona at level 2, and if anyone manages to get past both of them, Free and Elka will be waiting to greet them. Fortunately, our young meisters are up to the challenge as they all manage to rush past Medusa with their speed, and Stein stays behind to keep Medusa from chasing them. Kid had so much momentum that he even rushes past Chrona without breaking a sweat to chase down Free and Elka. Black Star and Maka quickly follow to get to Chrona, who Black Star eagerly wants to challenge, but Maka decides that she has a score to settle with Chrona, so she tells Black Star to back off. Meanwhile, Stein has his hands full with Medusa and her Vector planes, and even Blair manages to get into it with some cat and mouse action outside the streets of Death City with Mizune.
We also get some background on the Demon God hiding under Shibusen known as Asura, who use to be one of Shinigami-sama’s set of eight warriors, but Asura’s fear led him to be overly power hungry as he started to devour human souls, which prompted Shinigami-sama to rip the skin of Asura, make a bag of his scalp, and stuff Asura inside that bag to seal him away. What a way to go…
The action is starting to pick up! Stein vs Medusa, Maka vs Chrona, and even Blair vs Mizune should be awesome to watch. I’m interested to see how Maka handles Chrona this second time around. Perhaps the black blood in Soul Eater’s system will come into play to make him less vulnerable to Chrona’s attacks.
