Birdy the Mighty Decode 04

Summary:
Birdy knocks Tsutomu out and steers her ship Lailalo towards Oriotera. While Tsutomu’s friends study for midterms and plan for Sayaka’s Hospital Discharge Party, Birdy goes to check on the status of Tsutomu’s body reconstruction. In just three short months, Tsutomu will get his body back, and the mind fusion risk parameter is green. While on Oriotera, Tsutomu meets Birdy’s dog-girl friend Weegie Hayo and Birdy’s instructor Skeletsu. He also gets a few disturbing images about Birdy’s angsty childhood.

Birdy is called to testify against the smuggler frog-guy from the first episode, but it is just an excuse for a Deity, Nejula Gate Altaria, to rip on “Berserker-killer Birdy” and warn everyone about the Ryunka. Tsutomu sticks up for Birdy and gets a Bindu attack for his trouble. This lets Tsutomu experience first-hand the destruction of the planet Biluga due to the “invisible death,” Ryunka. After the trial, Birdy gets a Tute-lite cell phone with tentacles, and watches in surprise as a Union convoy suddenly explodes in the street.

Reaction:
This episode was kinda boring, and Tsutomu is starting to get on my nerves. I found it interesting that Birdy feels Earth’s greatest treasures are baths and white rice. The more I think about it, the harder I find it to disagree with her. The Bindu attack was unique, and there are plenty of possibilities for images that cannot be unseen.

Anyway, the trial was stupid, but it would have been hilarious if Nejula showed off footage of Shion when Tsutomu declared that Birdy was doing her best. The Ryunka wasn’t very exciting either; it basically sounds like a large nuke that fits in a suitcase. Didn’t that other agent recover it already? And speaking of recovery, I was happy to know that they did back up Tute (sorta). Wait till someone borrows Shion’s phone and gets a tentacle in the ear!

I was hoping they were able to salvage Tute. If they’ve managed to get a backup of him, shouldn’t it be possible to “implant” him in a new body?
