Grace reveals that Sheryl is just a street rat that got made into an idol. Even worse, Grace injected young Sheryl with a V-type infection which will eventually kill the Galaxy Fairy. The pills that made Sheryl sick are receptor blockers that mitigate the V-type infection so that Sheryl will not start using excessive alliteration. Rather than pass this info on to Alto, Mikhail tells Alto to check on Sheryl; as usual, however, Alto gets there late and his step-brother Yasaburo scoops up the unconscious Sheryl instead.
Meanwhile, President Glass sends the military and SMS out on a suicide mission to buy time for the emergency ultra-long-distance fold jump. The Vajra are early, but Ranka heads out (in spite of the danger) and enables the Frontier forces to implement Luca’s Operation Cinderella’s Horn strategy. The Vajra are rounded up and eliminated by a single huge blast from Battle Frontier’s main battery, and the rest of the fleet makes the jump. However, someone forgot to check the undersides of the fleet, and it looks like a nest made the jump with the rest of Macross Frontier.
Reaction:
Now it makes sense why Ozma survived. They need Ozma to have a flashback of when he was hanging out with Dr. Ranshe Mei (and her pet Vajra in a tube), shouta-Brera, and loli-Ranka. It wasn’t too crazy that Dr. Mao Nome was in charge of the research on Management and Prevention of V-type Infection, but it was surprising that Dr. Grace O’Connor was a lead researcher on the team. What also intrigues me is that Sheryl said earlier that her Fold Quartz earrings were the only reminders she had of her mother. Does Sheryl mean her real mother, or did she get the earrings from Mao?
As for Grace, her evil knows no bounds! Not only is she dumping Sheryl (those discounted CDs were so sad!), but Grace seems to be stealing Ranshe’s experiment! I wouldn’t be surprised if Grace purposely set off reaction engines or fold waves to attract Vajra to the 117th Research Fleet. This episode had a lot to love, from plot twists to sale fights between Monica and Bobby. The only thing that was a bit sketchy was the bottom-less, unclipped-top image of “Monster Girl.” Is that any way to treat the hope of the fleet?!
