It was a night of celebration as Shinigami-sama and the students held a school dance to celebrate the establishment of Shibusen many years ago. Unfortunately, team Medusa was working behind the scenes awaiting to strike Death City, and Stein almost falls for the charm of Medusa, but Sid manages to make it to Shibusen to warn everyone, because that’s the kind of man he was. Outside of the ball room, Free casts his Independence Cube, which locks everyone inside the cube within an alternate dimension, but Sid manages to cast his soul resonating technique to break Stein and our favorite students out of the grasp of Free’s technique. After escaping the Cube, Stein tells the students about the Demon God that is below the grounds of Shibusen, which is usually under the soul protection of Shinigami-sama, but since he got caught inside the Independence Cube, the Demon God is free for the taking. Thus, Stein and our heroes head underground in order to prevent team Medusa from getting to it.
Since everyone was dressed up for the dance event, I found it strange that Liz and Patty looked like they were wearing warmups. The second part that bugged me about the episode was the fact that Stein just forgot about Medusa and ran over to Sid when Sid came in to warn everyone. I’d figure he would have done something to impede Medusa’s plans, but she escaped without too much issue. Other than that, this episode sets up perfectly for what I would expect to be some uber awesome action in the underground Demon God temple of doom! And just like any good student, our student heroes magically brought their fighting gear with him under their suits and dresses just for the occasion!

Haha reminds me of all the outfits while watching the Olympics’ Opening Ceremonies.
