Louise hasn’t had much time to talk with Saito ever since he started training with the Knights of Ondine (against their lightsaber wands). Unfortunately, when Tifa tries to join the class, she is immediately bullied by Beatrice Yvonne von Guldenhorf, the rich princess who commands the best dragon-riding knights in Halkeginia. At first Guiche is able to cover for Tifa and Saito, but Tifa decides to reveal that she is a half-elf. This scares everyone (what kind of monster would take those crappy racial modifiers?!), and gives Beatrice another chance to bully Tifa.
Beatrice states she has Papal authority to conduct an inquisition, and asks Tifa if she worships Shizuburimiya or the Desert Devil. Beatrice forces Tifa to step into a boiling pot as proof of faith, but before this happens Saito and the Knights of Ondine step in and start fighting with the Air Cavalry. This wakes up Louise, who hasn’t been able to sleep from being upset at Saito. Louise quickly blows everyone up and then cooly replies to Beatrice, “Pics or it didn’t happen.” Everyone suddenly realizes that Beatrice is not certified by the Church and is just a big liar; but when Tifa forgives Beatrice, everyone realizes that half-elves are OK, as long as it’s just for role-playing purposes.
Reaction:
First things first: I was wondering why being from Gallia would exclude Tabitha from the Knights of Ondine, and then I remembered something. Like ZOMG, this Joseph is the same Joseph that had his brother killed and his sister-in-law turned into a lunatic so he could ascend the throne. This means that Tabitha and Kirche will for sure get some screen time to take out Tabitha’s uncle, right? Now that I look back at it, I guess this was not that subtle of a hint, especially since Joseph and Tabitha are the only ones with light blue hair in this show.
The rest of the show was very entertaining. Louise was super-cute this time, even if her expectations of telepathy were particularly frustrating. I loved when she did a one-woman show of how she wanted Saito to act, only to be caught by Siesta. Louise just barely edged out Guiche for awesomeness this episode. Guiche really brought all his skills into play this time, and got exactly what he deserved. This is how sneaky nobles do battle! The Tifa handcheck thing was kinda amusing, although you’d think Saito would know enough not to go for it. Julian didn’t help Tifa at all, but it was nice of him to give Louise the 411 on Saito backing off to protect her.
