We get some random flashbacks with young Minamo and her Grandma, and mostly they talk about the sea and how Minamo’s mom Mizuho hangs out at the Molecule Plant at Okinawa Reef. It looks like Minamo’s granny also hung out with young Masamichi and Eiichiro. Even back then Minamo was special and seemed to be able to hear subtle sounds in the wind. Nowadays, however, Minamo’s parents are always away on business and so Minamo lives on the Artificial Island with her brother Souta.
Back in the present, Masamichi decides to finally go into the Meta-Real (”Metal”) to see what the EISF’s n00btastic IT staff is doing. He’s able to dive into the BBL (no clue what this is) and apply the fix, but the transformers were all melted when the waves hit. Fortunately, Minamo has a similar thought pattern and rollerskates down the monorail line to the old power station. With Masamichi subtly guiding her, Minamo activates all 4 of the old wind turbines, and restores power to the island.
Reaction:
Wow that is some mad efficiency when 4 small turbines can power every house on the large island. Minamo showed some amazing stamina in trekking down to the power station and back, although it was so silly when she hurdled over the sign instead of just running around it. Shoes in the future rock as well, but those young whippersnappers don’t know a thing about programming. I was really expecting Masamichi to bust out the command line interface to show those n00bs how things were done 50 years ago.
I wasn’t sure quite what to expect when Minamo got to the old power station, but I’m glad it wasn’t a giant hamster wheel put there for her to lose weight (I’m kidding). Minamo and Masamichi made a great team, but I would have liked some more Holon screen time. What does maintenance entail anyway? The parts with Minamo’s grandmother were confusing, and I often had trouble telling if the discussion was about Mizuho or Mizuho’s mom.
