The battle on the Black Dragon continues as Death the Kid lands the first few blows on Chrona and knocks him/her through the deck of the ship, but Chrona comes out dazed but undamaged. Although he suffered a critical head shot, the top half of Scarecrow’s head isn’t done fighting yet as he raises up numerous cannons to fire at Kid and Chrona. Kid manages to dodge the cannon balls, but Ragnarok raises a force field around to protect Chrona, and Chrona retaliates by chopping the Black Dragon (and Scarecrow) in half with his/her Alpha Screech, forcing Kid to go to the hoverboard. Although Kid manages to chase down Chrona, he gets distracted by the symmetry of the smiling sun and clouds, giving Chrona and Ragnarok the opportunity to get away. After admiring the sun, Kid eventually makes it back to Shibusen, but he heads straight to his father to ask about what Scarecrow had been referring to as “the Demon God closest to us…” and demanding answers.

Meanwhile, back at Shibusen, Maka gets her health checked out by Medusa, who is partially interested in why Maka had coughed up black blood in her last battle, but Maka shows no signs of the black blood in her body currently. Medusa prods Maka about the Soul Eater’s health, but Maka sort of takes it the wrong way and goes into a slight jealous rage as Medusa made it sound as if Soul Eater was keeping secrets between himself and Medusa. After Maka leaves the office, Stein comes into the office for a slightly awkward showdown with Medusa as he senses the fact that Medusa is a witch. No fireworks resulted, but Stein is worried about Medusa’s next step, so he send Sid and Knige to raid Medusa’s hut. Unfortunately for the two, once they infiltrate Medusa’s hut and finds her diary, they get caught by Elka’s bombs.

Although it looks grim for Sid, we all know he’s a zombie, and zombie’s can’t be killed, because that’s the kind of people they are, so I’m expecting Sid to somehow come back later. As resourceful as Kid has shown to be, I figured he would have heard about the encounter between Chrona and Maka and how it took Stein to stop Chrona, thus he would have upped the fighting level a bit when encountering Chrona, but I guess word doesn’t go around Shibusen that fast. It’ll be interesting though to hear Shinigami-sama’s answers to Kid’s questions in the next episode.
