Summary:
I guess one of the burned boxes was filled with the only complete collection of Golgo 13 tankoubon, because Atushi is completely traumatized from his experience. The public is highly critical of the LDF’s decision to disobey the inspections, and Commander Inamine resigns for allowing the Mito base to suck so badly. On the plus side, at least Ryusuke wakes up to a double-promotion (to Library Supervisor First Class) and Maki by his side.
Meanwhile, Iku continues to visit Atsushi every day to read him some of his favorite books (supplied by Mikihisa). During one of these visits, Iku is ambushed by pushy reporters, but instead of losing her cool, she gives a rational and passionate speech about the importance of defying nonsensical rules in order to protect basic rights. Her broadcast speech quells some of the public uproar, and garners Iku many fans who mail her letters of support and pots of Chamomile. The gang brings the pots into Atsushi’s room and he finally snaps out of his funk to Iku’s delight.
Reaction:
At last, Iku sheds her hero worship and admits to Atushi that she loves him as he is now! This was a touching episode, and everyone ended up happy (except those dead MEC guys). Even Satoshi ended up working to help sway public opinion in favor of the LDF. If this was KimiNozo, Atushi would have woken up 3 years later only to discover that Iku was no longer going out with him and was instead living with Mikihisa. Ahhh, KimiNozo…
There wasn’t much Asako screen time, although it was cute when she pulled Hikaru out of the room to give Iku some alone time with Atsushi. We finally got a close look at young Atsushi, and he looked very different with that haircut. I liked the collage of photos at the end, since the hand-holding picture suggests that Iku and Atsushi are a true (and somewhat inappropriate) couple now.

The last episode was a pretty good episode overall. It was kind of a strange place to end a series though. Not only did it feel a bit too rushed in terms of the love story, but it just didn’t feel like it was a proper time to end a story as nothing at all was resolved and there seemed to be more adventures to go.
Perhaps they will make a second season of this show in the future, it did have pretty good ratings overall (one of the best non kids shows of last season actually).
I am still a bit ambivalent about the absolutely ridiculous battle scenes, even if I’ve accepted the silly story, but overall the series was enjoyable.
If there is a second season I hope it’s called:
Toshokan Sensou 2: Shibasaki’s revenge

My favorite scene was the Chamomiles sent from supporters. I wonder how it feels to receive fan mail like that! Oh, and a second season is always welcome!

I didn’t like KimiNozo lols, the ending sucked! But anyway, this episode was touching, but it was also kind of ‘boring’ for me and Iku’s speech was also sort of predictable …
I am glad they made I just wished that the journey was more interesting. I wanted to seem more AsakoxHikaru… :3
Well it probably would have benefited from longer length, but I guess when you meld genres sometimes things fall a bit short. At least they were using small unit tactics even if they were not shooting to kill.
If this was KimiNozo… KimiNozo would be awesome!
I just loved this episode with the way they chose to close the series (T_T Well, they had to, despite there being more novels and all). I’d demand a second season fervently, but every time I do that with a series, it never happens, and instead we get more Zero no Tsukaima and whatnot -_-”

anyway, i love the ending though i have to admit they did short change the part of the war. but the fangirl in me loves it ^^
