It’s time for our young trio to do some practical training with Akira, and so one honeymoon couple has to share its gondola with Akari, Alice, Aika, and the three presidents/cats. HoneyGirl is a big fan of Akira (who has many female groupies), but HoneyGuy prefers his Frommer’s Guide to Neo Venzia. HoneyGuy is jealous of Akira, and talks some serious smack about how an Undine is just a chick with an oar and manners. When HoneyGirl begs Akira to continue the tour into overtime, Akira decides to take this opportunity to show HoneyGuy how hard it is to become a Prima.
It seems that Akari tends to row extremely slowly when nervous, Aika tends to speed occasionally, and Alice is too quiet when alerting other Undines around intersections. HoneyGuy starts to realize training is tough, and is even happier to see Alicia arrive with some cake. In the final training exercise of the day, Akira makes the trio navigate the canals during high tide, and this is very tricky because the water level makes it difficult to pass under bridges. The trio has a hard time with the exercise, but eventually finds a way out of the area through an abandoned building. Afterwards, Akira treats the youngsters to Magherita pizza instead of scolding them, because they have already reflected on their mistake. Everyone realizes that Akira is only strict because she is caring, and HoneyGuy ditches his guidebook.
Reaction:
First of all, why in the world is Alice able to pick locks with just one scrap of metal? I would have been ok with Alice having studied doors and knowing some strange opening mechanism, but does she have some criminal background that we are unaware of? In the end, Alice, Akari, and Aika did not learn how to deal with high tide, since their solution is only feasible with multiple Undines and one rogue. I find it odd that the city planners did not take this into account when planning NV. I guess they don’t want gondolas zipping around, and it makes me wonder if Aika is going to get a ton of speeding tickets in the future.
I felt kinda bad for Aria this episode, because he had a chance to win Hime’s heart in that scary building, but then he got hit with a cobweb and chickened out. Aria was more scared than Aika, and once Maa gets older and hotter the love triangle will be set. I also felt kinda bad for that honeymoon couple. Should they get a discount for putting up with training, or should they pay extra for getting a full day of service? I guess it all washes out, especially since the cake was not a lie.
