Summary:
Iku and Mikihisa’s team pick up the valuable Book of Prophecy from a store owner who wants library readers to be able to read the banned story. Unfortunately, the MCF ambushes Mikihisa’s team on their way back, and Iku and Mikihisa are forced to take the book and hide in the nearby Hino Marshalling Yard. The MCF doesn’t like to play by the rules and one goon fires a silenced shot into Mikihisa’s shin, even though firing weapons is forbidden in neutral neighborhoods. This pisses Iku off, and she threatens to beat the hell out of the shooter.
As Mikihisa and Iku hide in a traincar for Atsushi’s team to rescue them, Mikihisa tells a story about when Atsushi was still a recruit. An MCF goon fired a warning shot at some poor kid trying to feed bunnies (WTF…), and so Atsushi rushed the mound and got in a massive fist-fight with the entire MCF squad. Iku is a little displeased at being compared to Atsushi, but is smart enough to hide the book on a departing train before surrendering to the MCF. The MCF guys want to search the trains, but they are told to stand down by the Judicial Department. It seems Hikaru was smart enough to pose as a neighbor in order to phone in a complaint (while Atsushi’s squad was getting in position) about the shot fired.
Reaction:
This episode was a little more boring and heavy-handed than the others, especially with the re-titling of Farenheit 451 as the Book of Prophecy. They finally gave evidence that Iku is Atsushi version 2.0, but it looks like Atsushi has learned to lay the smackdown with paperwork and sanctions now. Unfortunately, Iku never studies and so she may have to stick to judo throws for a while longer.
Asako didn’t get much screentime this episode and I found it odd that you can watch a Saw ripoff but cannot read fairytales. At least I now know why Asako is still single, because blowing up Iku’s cellie with 20 messages is a sure sign of overwhelming clinginess. I just hope Iku is smart enough to avoid a bad ending…

I dont know, i think it was interesting knowing a little more background about Atsushi character (seriously that media soldier shooting a kid? even if it was to scare him… he should have kick his ass more). as well as how the mess they got was because of political corruption and they even imagine taht the rest of the world must think of their situation as ridiculous because they dont have the same censorship issue…
I found this episode rather awkward. I must say it’s a pity that this really beautiful and high quality animation is wasted on such a pointless, half-assed plot. It’s labeled as comedy but is it really one? There’s an occasional gag and a funny scene but is it really a comedy? It’s definitely silly but rarely in a funny way. One moment they are shooting with machine guns at each other and the next moment they’re fist-fighting? If they want me to tell that wars are silly and pointless, there’s no need to. I only have to read the newspaper or switch the TV on.
The world isn’t just made of black and white. It’s actually black and green! Of course the black guys are bad guys with no honour or courage and they even shoot at little kids. Yeah right. Also instead of treating the kid or at least checking whether it’s still alive, the good guys have to kick the bad asses first. You hafta have priorities!
Luckily the bad guys cannot properly hit targets, so even if they hit a person, it’s only a scratch. Well, let’s see how many otaku join the defense forces to protect their beloved manga. Only time will tell whether the propaganda worked or not.
Oh and I’m slowly getting tired of references to 1984/Brave New World/Fahrenheit 451 in modern pop culture. The warnings were mostly unheard, ridiculed or discussed so much that nobody noticed how much of it turned into reality. So what’s the point of still using those themes? Is it about being a smart ass or maybe just laziness?

I thought it was interesting how Mikihisa pseudo-broke the fourth wall and said how silly the plot of Toshokan Sensou would seem to people living in an uncensored world.
It’s too bad we don’t get the story from both sides, as the MCF is clearly made out to be bad, and the LDF is obviously good. Then again, if you only have one cour to work with, you can’t get too nuanced.
Chris if you dont like the show, then dont watch it.

they noticed that the kids was alright, the fact that he even shot that warning shot to a kid makes him despicable… and dont tell me what would never happen…
you really dont get it, do you? this is about right and wrong. Both sides think they are right! yet there are few characters who know or at least aknowlege the problem of this situation. The reason that they have this problem is that politicians as well as arrogant law makers created this situation. This is not about a black and white issue, but being stuck in the middle of a ridiculous law… I am sure future generations will see our politicians and politics and think we were idiots too…
If you dont like the anime or its theme so be it…

I think you can still not like a show and still watch it… like American Idol (sorry, I never finished an anime that I hated… so had to go with RL references. I’m sure most of you have good examples though =3) Also, Chris has some pretty good points about the flaws of this anime, and thats what you do on these posts: debate about anime! …Oh, and about anime having a big budget and sucking, its almost like *Nintendo hat on* PS3 games (DAYUMMMM!!!) But thats the thing, despite this anime being silly, its still entertaining, and I think thats why Chris continues to watch it… right?
