Aria The Animation 05

Summary:
When Akari was little she was sure Neverland existed, but after she watched the news she knew she could never go to Neverland. One day, however, Akari, Alice, and Aika get invited to Neverland. It’s actually a ploy by Akira, Alicia, and Athena (who somehow gets lost for the entire day on the wrong island) to bring the youngsters down for some intensive training.

After the tough training, Alicia makes Akira give everyone the rest of the day off to swim, dive, and play with the fish. Akira gets to show off her manly BBQ skills, and Akari loses a ribbon. This reminds Akari of how when she was young she lost a ribbon once at the pool. Unfortunately, the story is so boring that everyone falls asleep, and eventually the ribbon washes back on shore so that Akari will never have to tell that boring story again.

Reaction:
There was more of that moaning-running that Akari and Alice are so fond of, but I didn’t record it. Is this a common feature throughout this show, or did Akira succeed in teaching the trio how to run and breathe normally through beach sprints? Akari’s ribbon story wasn’t that great, and I can only imagine what it is like when Akari and Alicia sit at home and spout meaningful phrases to each other for hours on end. I now understand that Akira and Aika are necessary to keep the cheesiness in check.

I noticed again that President Hime is soooo coy towards President Aria. I’m afraid she is just using him most of the time, but I love that haughty look of hers. I wonder what Orange Planet’s mascot is like, but since Athena got lost I will have to wait a bit longer to find out. I was amazed at the skills of the Water Faeries when they started gliding along on their logs. It would have been better if they could do it on a log flume, though.

The cat antics will go on throughout the series. I guess there’s something about slice of life and felines.
