Although Hikaru is very talented and well-connected (his dad is the chairman of the Library Commission), Iku asks for more time to consider his confession. At the same time, bigwig Nobeyama Sohachi passes away and the books from his private Museum of Information History are to be transferred to the Kanto Library. The Kanto LDF is armed and ready for the handoff, which will take part at the same time as the funeral. However, Atsushi remembers Iku’s discarded letter and because Iku’s parents don’t know that she takes part in combat, he assigns her to the VIP escort team.
Iku comes to terms with the decision and asks Asako for help in learning how to push a wheelchair. The VIP is Inamine Kazuichi, one of the survivors from the Hino Nightmare. Sesou Publishing’s Orikuchi Maki (Ryusuke’s college buddy) observes the LDF successfully complete the handoff, however, a bunch of maybe-MCF thugs decide they want to be able to kidnap Kazuichi so that they can park in the handicapped spaces.
Reaction:
I thought the mind games between Ryusuke and the MCF were interesting, in that both sides want to look like they put up a tremendous fight, but yet neither side wants to escalate. Ryusuke even let them have the dummy crate with textbooks that the school store wouldn’t buy back, just so that the MCF could save face. The use of SMGs and low-powered sniper rifles suggest that neither side really wanted to cause too much damage. Why don’t they just switch to jousting or paintball?
I’m glad Iku didn’t sink into sulk-city, and instead tried to beef up her wheelchair pushing skills. I was surprised at how powerful the engine was on the practice wheelchair, but Kazuichi’s actual wheelchair was more normal. I wonder if the MCF is really so bold as to kidnap Kazuichi, since that sort of move could set an unwelcome precedent. Meanwhile, we have yet to find out if Iku will go out with Hikaru and leave the other LTF forces (whom are all male) in despair.
