Spice and Wolf 12

Summary:
Enik seems to know that Horo is a wolf, but Horo passes it off as puppy love. The wolves in the region are strange, always stalking but never howling. However, once Liebert retrieves the gold from Ramtra, the wolves being to give chase to the group. Nora calls out plays to confuse the defense, but one manages to close in on the rear. Before the impudent wolf can pounce, however, Horo gives the youngster a GTFO stare, and the wolf runs away to go cry on the message boards.

There is a very large wolf in the forest, and Horo realizes that she has to take it on alone. Nora and Liebert are sent off ahead, and Lawrence is told to get as far away as possible. Unfortunately, it seems that Liebert and the Remerio company have betrayed Lawrence. A group of thugs ties up Lawrence as “insurance” and leaves him to the wolves. They also discuss offing Nora, so things are not looking too great right now.

Reaction:
Once again Lawrence gets double-crossed. This one seemed inevitable, but at the same time, I’m not sure what Lawrence could have done about it ahead of time. It seems a bit early for Liebert to betray the group, however, unless Nora was so fast that she already passed the checkpoint.

I look forward to seeing what Horo does against the other large wolf. It’s like a fight in the schoolyard with all the little wolves gathered around chanting, “Fight, fight!” This episode was a little more interesting than the previous ones, but I have a feeling that Lawrence will worm his way to safety once more. I have to admit that I kinda enjoyed watching the guy superman punch Lawrence in the forest, even if it was a really mean thing to do.

I actually wonder if they would show the wolves fight it out. Up until now we’ve never really had a good look of Horo’s wolf form fighting. The time Horo transformed in the sewers were too dark to really see much.

I don’t know if you can call what wolf-form Horo does “fighting.” It’s more like “stampeding” if you ask me. Horo putting that little wolf in its place was totally awesome.

Haha, stampeding. That’s exactly what she does, now that you mention it, Kabitzin. It’s because she knows Lawrence will be sad if she kills anyone, I think. :p

What Lawrence doesn’t know is that when he goes to sleep, Horo eats some wheat thins and goes and kills all the people she crippled earlier.
