Summary:
Satou has made up his mind to call 800-RICHDAD to get an internship at Outlaw, and Ike realizes he needs to step up his own game because there are only 4 episodes left. Kantarou reveals that he had a child out of wedlock with Chigusa, although the boy died. Yuuji is the second, and amazingly a third child is on its way. This of course drives Shana and Kazumi into baby-making mode. They both agree to give Yuuji Christmas/confession letters and stay at different locations so he can pick which girl he wants to be with.
Wilhelmina realizes she should have requested a Wilhelmina raburabu flashback, and now she can only bitterly tell Shana that the confession will result in an extremely awkward workplace. Still, Wilhelmina is willing to help Shana get ready for her big moment. Ike, on the other hand, blindsides Kazumi and puts his own confession in place before she goes off to meet Yuuji. Unfortunately, when Yuuji finally gets to the crossroad to make his choice, he is suddenly ambushed by Hecate. It turns out Sabrac didn’t die last episode, and Balle Masque has set everything up so that Hecate could swoop in and steal the Reiji Maigo!
Reaction:
Damnit, I should have known that Sabrac didn’t die last episode! This season Balle Masque is playing for keeps, and the good guys are just screwing around wasting time trying to bone each other. Was that swirly spherical blue field supposed to be Taimei Shihen? I guess all the various feints were meant to seal away the Reiji Maigo’s keeper, and I wonder what is going to happen to Yuuji without his infinite MP hack. I also wonder how old Chigusa is, because she has aged like fine wine.
I loved Ike’s plan to set himself up as Rebound Guy, and I chuckled appreciatively at how he blindsided Kazumi with a confession. Haha, see how it feels to have to deal with this crap when you are busy doing something else? It doesn’t look like Kazumi will accept Ike’s confession, but at least he finally did it. Wilhelmina was great this episode with her uncomfortable moment of bitter projection, and how she stabbed her toast when she heard that Shana was going to confess. I also enjoyed Shana’s horror when she realized she had just done the verbal equivalent of getting nekkid in front of Yuuji’s whole family.

Obviously an even better hack. I think of it as a job level up of sorts. Looks like we’ll be getting that insane twist I mentioned on Subculture a while back.
It’d be really hilarous if the secret plan of the Balle Masque WRT the Reiji Maigo is to use it as a perpetual motion disco ball to power their Masked Dance Dance Revolution party at the Seirei Den (invited guests only).
The heating and electricity costs for Serei Den are really high, and Balle Masque is just trying to do something for the environment.
Of course Sabrac ain’t dead, else he wouldn’t be able to drop that bomb about Yuuji becoming an older brother.
Kidding aside, despite all the whining the start of the season made, this season looks like it’s going to end on a high note. Yuuji, the Silver, and their ultimate destiny are set to collide.
Of course they wouldn’t kill off Sabrac. He was too badass. The next thing you know, some of the bad guys will move to the good side!
Shana didn’t even care about being naked before she met Yuji.
Oh how I long for the good old days…
There are times when Sabrac actually looks more like some punk kid with bad hair than an old assassin. I don’t know if this is on purpose, or just bad animation.
Sabrac and the members of Balle Masque will never join the side of good; this isn’t Nanoha after all.
I’m still thinking these guys have really not stepped up to end this season as well as they did the first. Seems like from around ep. 17 on, the first one was great, and I’m still feeling a little short-changed here. The pacing just never seems to get off the ground.
Does anyone know if a 3rd season is coming? It smells that way to me, but I’m usually wrong about pretty much everything.
Really? Both seasons started really slowly and ramped up towards the end. I’ve actually enjoyed the second season waaaay more than the first season. I think the lows of season 1 were lower than the lows of season 2. I also liked the Sabrac fight.
I think a third season is a lock. They haven’t been rushing things as much this season, and I am pretty sure this season will end on a cliffhanger.
that much is true, I just haven’t felt the ramping as much this time. the Sabrac fight was rad indeed though, and I’m sure the climax will be big.
