Shinichiro lets Miyokichi in, and through a series of unfortunate events, Miyokichi learns that Ai bought that plain purple sweater because she saw that Shinichiro was drawn to it. We get a flashback of Shinichiro telling Ai about “nice guy” Miyokichi and then bringing them together so Miyokichi can confess. Ai caves to the pressure and accepts. Back in the present, Shinichiro is still muddled over the development with Jun, and asks Noe to leave him alone for a while. Noe grabs hold of him, but like a gecko, Shinichiro gets away by abandoning his belt.
Jun upholds his end of the bargain, and takes Hiromi to the movies. He mentions that his dad and grandmother died and his mom always works. He also mentions how he dislikes the snow because it interferes with his motocross madness. Hiromi used to love the snow, but when she first came to the Nakagami house, Nakagami-okasan picked a snowy day to tell Hiromi about how Nakagami-otosan might be Hiromi’s dad as well. When Shinichiro demands to know about the conversation, Hiromi ends up telling him everything and Shinichiro imagines being pulled to the bottom of a deep pool of Hiromi’s tears.
Whoa, what the heck! I knew something was up between Yuasa-okasan and Nakagami-okasan, but I never suspected an affair! It is so crazy how Shinichiro’s mom goes out of her way to call Hiromi a strumpet every time Hiromi even looks at a guy, but this really explains Nakagami-okasan’s hostile attitude towards Hiromi. While this mystery seems to be solved, I can’t help but wonder if it is possible that Nakagami-okasan is lying about Shinichiro being Hiromi’s oniisan. I am still rooting for Hiromi, because I love her basketball scenes. All that pent up tension released through practice has really helped, and she had a great give-and-go for a layup (finally).
I guess the theme is that honesty is the best policy. Jun is blunt and he gets whatever he wants. Meanwhile, Ai’s flashback really helped shed some light on the situation. She probably was afraid it would be all awkward if she rejected Miyokichi, and that would cut into her ability to see Shinichiro (since she is always working). I wonder how Miyokichi is going to deal with this revelation, but I hope he at least realizes that it is not Shinichiro’s fault at all.
