Bamboo Blade 18

Konishi is badly hurt, but Toraji has the judges halt the match due to Tamaki’s injury. Kirino steps in for the representative match to break the tie, but at the critical moment her little brother Takkun announces that Chiba-okasan is ok. This breaks Kirino’s focus and she falls prey to Aoki-san’s Misty Honey Bee strike. Although they lost, the Muroe team is happy; Konishi on the other hand spends hours in the bathroom agonizing on her decision to be a little creep during her childhood instead of drinking more milk.

I guess this isn’t the only path to the finals, as everyone is in a pretty good mood still. Kirino decides they need a theme song, but before Sayako can reveal her amazing composition, Kirino mentions that she already picked the Blade Brave OP. To make the dojo look nice, Yuuji brings in a calligraphy scroll he made that says Ultimate Charged Single Blow and Dan brings in the first page of his ecchi Miya-Miya doujinshi.

I’m glad Toraji also mentioned that the Atomic Fire Blade is only supposed to be used on men. Too bad Kirino lost to a named move as well. We got a quick shot of her cute family and I liked her cell phone picture. I don’t really blame Kirino for the loss, since she got the team to the 3rd round. Really the blame falls on Satori who screwed her team over at the last moment. Not only did her tie let the other school get into overtime, but her hurt stomach precluded her from the last match (that she should have won).

Tamaki was funny too, even if this episode was a bit boring. It was awesome how she was concerned about the Christmas Crystals anime while her dad was trying to lecture her. It was kind of her to leave the certificate for the Kawazoe Dojo. I liked how emotional her dad got about the framed certificate, and how upset he was when he heard that Yuuji was taking Tamaki to school. Beware of childhood promises!

Tamaki’s dad’s pissed off face after any mention of Yuuji is the most hilarious thing ever.

Sigh, Dan-kun drawing Miya Miya H…that’s just not something I want to imagine. XD

I’m really sad that this show only has a couple of more episodes to go. :(

Yeah, I’m still not sure how this will end. How will Toraji keep his job? I figure an easy way to “end” the anime is to make Reimi think that Miyako won’t get to look so cool if Toraji isn’t there to run the kendo club. That or Dan will turn out to be the son of some super-influential person that will cut Toraji a break.
