Ever since her dad died last year, Yuasa Hiromi has had to live in the Nakagami household (their dads worked together). She keeps up appearances at school, but Hiromi is cold and gloomy at home; it might have something to do with how creepy Shinichiro is around her. Shinichiro is an art student, and constantly thinks about how he would wipe away Hiromi’s tears if she would just cry for once. No wonder Hiromi doesn’t talk to him much now that she knows what he is like at home. She also has to deal with constant awkward situations like Shinichiro’s mom hating her, or Shinichiro being unable to get into a school in Tokyo.
After a quick introduction to Shinichiro’s mischievous buddy Nobuse Miyokichi and Miyokichi’s girlfriend Endo Aiko, Shinichiro meets a strange girl in a tree. Her name is Isurugi Noe, and she transferred to the school last year. Noe is devoted to a black rooster she keeps (Raigomaru), but is not very nice to the other rooster (Jibeta), because the white rooster shows no interest in flying. Shinichiro uses his art skills to impress Noe, but just as things are starting to go well, they find that Jibeta has killed Raigomaru and framed the local raccoons. Noe is greatly saddened, but does not cry because she has already given away her tears.
The first thing I noticed about this series is that the productions values are superb! I like the artistic direction they are taking, but a lot of little details are animated, too. Anyway, Shinichiro seems like a normal guy, but he acts pretty odd around Hiromi. When he whipped out the tissue box to make the rooster, I was sure he was going to start fapping right then and there (having just walked in on her). If Hiromi ever finds all the weird tearful drawings, she’ll probably move out immediately.
Shinichiro is definitely more sensible away from home. I applauded his decision to give his buddy some alone time with Aiko, and he must be doing that Mugeha Dance to please someone in his family. It seemed like in the opening that Shinichiro had a vision of Noe, which is a little odd (since he hadn’t met her yet). Meanwhile, I was also amazed at just how slow Hiromi was with the number pad.

Heh. I actually watched this episode, but only this episode so far. I also thought the production values were amazing, and saw that the show had a lot of potential in it. I guess I was right seeing all the hype this show is getting around town. Maybe I’ll start watching the episodes every time I see a Sea Slugs post about it or something since I’m kind of behind. xD
You guys really need to catch up on True Tears , it is the best thing out this season so far…
>I was sure he was going to start fapping right then
LOL! Me too. Maybe it’s time to move onto a healthier medium XD
Another one converted? Just as planned. Hope you can catch up with this eventually, since it gets pretty intense in the later episodes.
Watched the first EP did didnt get into it for some reason.
I wasn’t that into it after the first episode either, although like Totali I did give props to the excellent production values. However, episode 2 struck with two things I like: dorama and basketball. If they made a basketball series where everyone cries all the time, I would watch it.
