Bamboo Blade 14

After some odd initial scenes with Reimi putting the finishing touches on her 1-1 scale Miyako cardboard cutout and Yoshikawa owning up Reimi’s mom in a PSP game, we get a taste of Miyako’s manipulative side. Miyako is able to turn on the charm to get her classmates to take over her cleaning duties, and then heads off to convince Satori to join the kendo club. The argument boils down to the fact that if Satori is stupid then studying won’t help, whereas if it is a problem of focus kendo will help much more than studying will. With the extra bonus of having 3 tutors in the club and the chance at a kendo scholarship, Satori is convinced.

Kenzaburo-senpai tells Toraji that a weekend training camp will help the girls improve rapidly, so Toraji announces that they will have a 2 day camp at the school. The Machido High scrubs will be showing up as well, but once again Dan and Yuuji are on their own. Tamaki’s dad is a little unsure about letting Tamaki stay overnight where there will be boys, and comes this close to telling her about the birds and the bees.

There were a lot of very interesting little details. First off, I am thoroughly convinced that Yoshikawa-sensei has a thing for Toraji, especially when she invited him over for a little gaming date. Secondly, just how bad is Tamaki’s TV recording device? She can’t even set up a series recording? Finally, it is ironic that Yuuji is the only guy who can’t get any sugar. He’s smart, talented, brave, and good looking but no one will give him any attention!

The intro with Reimi was pretty awesome, as the only other photography club guy was confused by her obsession with Miyako. When Reimi turned around all psycho, it put a dagger of fear in my heart (the hair in the mouth was a nice touch). Meanwhile, it is really sad how ghetto the kendo club is; I thought every club at least had an onsen fanservice fund.

Isn’t he the good sidekick, and thus never gets the things that he should be getting? It’s an anime staple, right? :P

    Kabitzin:
You didn’t mention anything about the hilarious “snake eating frog” comparison!

The frog comparison was definitely awesome, even though Satori’s glasses are just for show. I especially liked how Satori was clinging to Miyako and begging to be let into the club as they showed the full snake slithering off =D.
