Persona -Trinity Soul- 02

Previously on Persona, Shin found himself helping a seemingly struggling man on the street, but little did he know this man had attacked a girl student earlier. During the encounter, the Persona rises out of the man’s body, which looks as if it was struggling as well, and lashes out at Shin. Inadvertently, Shin’s Persona rises out of his body and dishes out the slash of death to the man’s Persona. Meanwhile, a car drives out to the two with a suspicious man and woman, and Shin found himself being chased by the woman’s Persona, but fortunately his own Persona defends him quite easily. The raucous battle startles the neighboring houses, so Shin manages to get away while the woman pulls back her Persona as not to be seen. Shin makes it back to Ryou’s house and passes out on the floor.

The next day, Shin is still quite tired as Jun kept nudging him to wake up for school. However, Shin does get a rude awakening as he hears from Ryou that him and Jun would have to move out. But this awakening does little to keep him going as Shin continues to sleep while in class, eventually being awaken again by the peppy red-headed Megumi. As the two talk, they’re interrupted by Takurou and his fearsome fro, who wants girls to like him and is the master of the shadow pull, a new “fad” amongst the high schoolers. In fact, his shadow pull is so good that it can even send senior high school students to the nurse’s office because of its awesomeness! Ok, that might be an over-exaggeration, but Shin becomes curious to what shadow pulling is, so Takurou explains the process to Shin and offers to have Shin practice on him. So the two go off and try this, and Shin ends up activating both his and Takurou’s Persona. The two Persona’s probably end off battling to a draw, and the two highschoolers end up dazed on their backs while admiring the sky.

Later after school, the two join up with Megumi and Morimoto, another classmate, for some dinner and karaoke action. After striking up a tune, Megumi and Morimoto head off to the bathroom to wash up. However, Megumi passes out unexpectedly, so Morimoto tries to help her back to the Karaoke room, but the two get assaulted by a guy, who Megumi angrily shouted at in a restaurant in episode 1, and his thug friends.

So far, we get a taste of the enemies that are going after the list of student. Also, we also see that Ryou not only has these enemies to deal with, but members of the police department have also become quite wary of Ryou being secretive and unjustified in his action to send police members to defend the list of students since many of these police members end up in an unrecoverable coma. And with many of the students having Personas, it’s no wonder why shadow pulling has become such a popular activity amongst the student body. And I don’t know if this is always the case, but it seems like any anime character with a fro always seems to have their own theme music when you see them (see Ken from Yakitate Japan). Will Takurou and Shin will make it in time to save Megumi and Morimoto?

I watched this episode. It would help if they turned up the opacity of the “stands” so that I could tell wtf is going on during those fights, though. I did appreciate the BL-undertones of the shadow pulling as well.
