What if the last carrier lost his arms? This could bring about a situation similar to what happened to God (on vacation) in Dogma.

First Yuuji started calling her Shana about six months ago. Then Tanaka and Satou picked it up. Then Kazumi started doing it. I don't know the novels, but somehow I have this strange feeling that Pheles has been "traveling" from person to person, always in the direction of Johan, and that the touching hands kind of have been the "handing Pheles over" to the next carrier.
