Happy New Year’s Day to everyone, and I’m happy to say that Sea Slugs! Anime Blog has now been going for 4 years! This year actually saw several new features that I hope improved the site for everyone.
- Redesigned Layout: Now that the new blog smell has faded, hopefully the new layout continues to work well for everyone. It was sad to see Mobile Student Osaka go, but I’ve been very happy so far with the new theme.
- Interviews: This is the addition that I am most proud of this year. It’s been a blast chatting with various anibloggers, and I hope to continue this feature. Also, we won a phallic award for this feature.
- Editorials and Meta-blogging: Ender actually wrote up some editorials for us! Like salt on a
woundpretzel, a little editorializing can go a long way. We’re also making an effort to point out articles we enjoy on other anime bloggers (since readers suggested it). - Blogging Tips and Tutorials: I don’t know if anyone reads the tutorials, but Ender tells me that his eyes glaze over whenever he sees one of these posts. Still, I use them for my own reference from time to time.
- Giveaways: I recently chatted with 0rion about how hard it is to give away free cash and goodies! I need to level up my contest skills or something, but hopefully we can run a few contests in 2008.
Stylistically, there weren’t many changes to my own writing this year, and I’ve gotten quite fond of the 3/2/2 format (caps, paragraphs of summary, paragraphs of impressions/thoughts) I used this year. However, with all the new features added, I am definitely proud of how the blog has grown. Thanks to all our readers, and we look forward to another great year of anime and blogging.

Love the interviews, it’s definitely the most fun and unique new feature I’ve seen in while.

And, like Orion, I find the interviews one of the more unique prospects of this site, and it helps me get to know the interviewed blogger better. I can safely say that without those interviews and seeing how others blog, I would never have had the motivation to start my own anime blog.
So, keep up the good work!

Stripey’s blog exploded today because the K2 RC3 zip file had corrupt bits in it! But the raccoon dog lives to siscon another day due to Zaku RC1 transfer mwahaha. I’ve appreciated your plugging of Sandbox but it just seems so much work. -_-;;

If they bundle Sandbox with WP 2.4 as planned, I bet there will be a much better variety of CSS skins for it, easing much of the work. As it is, you have to either make your CSS file from scratch, or work with one of the maybe 15ish skins that were entered into the design contest (which is not a whole lot of choice).

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! It sure has been fun chatting with you and the rest of the crew *breakdances* I’ve learned quite a few things about the blogging community (even though I still stalk/lurk most of them), and became a more serious anime fan (as in, serious about anime, not acting “serious” about it… feelin me?)
I must also say thanks for linking to those “Post a comment here” contests! Even though I haven’t used it, the scarcream has become one of my best friends and LOL moments! I’m glad I’ve been here to witness all of those 5 improvements to your site! And oh yea, thanks for helping me find my possible love interest
