Ike takes a break from ogling Kazumi on his desktop, and plans a trip to the amusement park ostensibly for Konoe. Ike’s got every last detail planned out, and thinks this will be his chance to get Kazumi alone with him on the ferris wheel. Unfortunately, many of his precise calculations fail, and he ends up getting motion sick on every single ride. Dude needs to get a Rental Magica demon eye or something.
The groups separate, with Satou, Tanaka, Ogata, and Shana going on a marathon of thrill rides, while Yuuji gets stuck in the kiddy section babysitting Konoe. When Ike finally gets his chance with Kazumi, he isn’t brave enough to take her hand. As luck would have it, he even gets motion sick on the ferris wheel. Fortunately, Konoe had a great time at the amusement park, so in the end the trip was a success.
While this episode was pretty pointless in terms of plot development, it was still entertaining and amusing. I applaud Ike for taking action in not letting Yuuji steal all the young maidens, but it quickly became apparent to me why he is still single. The one really good quality Ike displayed was his ability to stay reasonably calm when things went wrong and not flip out on his friends.
There were a lot of fun little moments too, like Ike and Wilhelmina bonding over precise battle planning and Ogata going all fangirl over Shana’s mad crazy video game skillz. Shana seemed to have a pretty good time, especially on the bungee jump, and I was surprised the ride was not an excuse to show pantsu. It was also pretty great when Satou tried to find out how to become a Flame Haze so he can get on the ferris wheel with Marjorie.

Because he’s not the lead character? :P
Ike has that kind of weird, over-eager, desperate aura about him. Besides, being the planner/organizer is always a thankless task, especially if you aren’t getting paid for it.
It’s not that he’s trying too hard, it’s that he’s making it look like he’s trying too hard. Being a side character is no excuse not to have mojo. Look at Tanaka; he can’t even open his eyes enough to see what he’s doing, and Ogata is all over him.
Somwhow this was a Kazumi ep for me. It reminds me why I’m rooting for her over Shana. I can also identify with Ike. Years back I was supposed to propose in a ferris wheel ride but literally got cold feet from the height.
I blame the glass bottom. XD
