Sayako is having trouble finishing her yuri fanfiction, because she’s still got Miyako on her mind. We get a flashback that shows just how flakey Sayako can be, and why she was never able to beat Kirino. Sayako has great power and because she is so tall she has good reach, but she is also very impatient and she has poor defense. Also, any time Sayako encounters an obstacle, she runs out of the club and doesn’t come back until much later (with a new favorite hobby).

Miyako is not happy about the morning training, but she is even more upset when she sees Sayako arrive at practice. After a talk with Toraji, however, Miyako does the smart thing and apologizes to Sayako, and Sayako returns Miyako’s lovu lovu bokuten. With that out of the way, Miyako is getting more and more enthusiastic about the kendo club, as she comes to realize how much fun it is to hit other people with her smooth accurate strikes. Meanwhile, Ishibari picks his team (Nishiyama, Yoko, Ando, Harada, and Asakawa), and they agree to help him for a chance to skip summer training camp.

This was a great episode, and I loved that whole outpouring SMS from Sayako that Kirino cut off right away. Sayako is a nice addition to the team, even if she is a bit daft and flakey. It’s funny that Sayako and Miyako are like the big beefy enforcers on the team, at least in terms of size and arm strength.

It’s interesting how all these girly aspects creep into the kendo club. All the girls are constantly complaining about being sweaty (yes, I know girls don’t sweat, they shine). Then there is Miyako carving in a love umbrella on her deathstick. I wonder how long it will be before Toyama feels the power of love… on his face.
