Toraji decides to step up practices, and even have practices during lunch (bring extra food, please). Miyako is not really enthusiastic about this, but Danjuro really encourages her. The team then goes to buy some new equipment at Sakaguchi’s Kendo Wares. Miyako is happy to see that Sakaguchi also sells bokuto, and finally gives Toraji his first glimpse of her dark “Black” side.
The group bonds by ordering equipment, and Toraji assigns the girls in his sentai team colors. Naturally Tamaki is Red, and Miyako is assigned Pink/Black. Miyako heads back to the store to buy a bokuto by herself and plans to ambush Toyama and Iwasa. Unfortunately, Miyako’s plan is foiled when she is run off the road by crazy Sayako. Pissed, Miyako throws Sayako’s bike into the water, and then pushes Sayako in as well, before stomping home.
Even though “that other guy” Danjuro looks like a goofball, he really seems like a nice guy. I can see how he and Miyako make a great team. Miyako finally showed off her Black side, and it was a great touch how Sakaguchi had pink daifuku when she returned (pink on the outside, black/red on the inside). Meanwhile, they keep showing Green teammate Azuma Satori in the background, but she has yet to be introduced.
The flashback with Kenzaburo-senpai and his trophy OCD was priceless. I’m glad we got to meet Sayako finally, although she is really bonkers. Toraji continues to amuse, whether it be with his sly lunchtime practice plan or his belief that Kenzaburo is after his SNES.
