We get a flashback of young Tamaki watching her favorite show Super Sword Squad Blade Braver, as Yuji tells Toraji about how Tamaki has always had a strong sense of justice. With that, Tamaki challenges Toyama, but in the changing room she finds that all the trousers are too long. In spite of the handicap, Tamaki does fairly well against Toyama, but his strength is a bit much for her. Finally she realizes that Toyama fulfills all the prerequisites that her father mandated for using her powerful thrust attacks, and so she hits Toyama in the neck and definitively defeats him.
Kirino slyly appeals to Tamaki’s sense of justice by telling her that Toyama could come back at any time and Tamaki is the only one strong enough to stand up to him. With that, Tamaki decides to join the club, and we learn a little bit about some of the members. Kirino has some kind of really weird sweat fetish, and apparently Sayako is very random and wishy-washy. On the other hand, Yuji is an accomplished kendo student, and reached the top 8 in regionals in middle school. As for Toraji, years of slacking off have greatly weakened him, and in practice Tamaki has no trouble finishing him off with one strike to the head.
One of the things I like about Bamboo Blade is the subtle humor. I liked when everyone was feeding Tamaki and Danjuro cried that Tamaki was eating his arm. Also, I was in total agreement with Yuji and Toraji when Toraji sent Miyako and Danjuro to run laps.
It’s kinda amazing how much easier it is to forgive a lame guy when he isn’t amassing a harem. Toraji had all kinds of girls giving him handouts, but because he is so selfish and refuses to be nice to them, he keeps the harem danger level low. Anyway, great episode, and it was very cute how Tamaki prayed to her mother and told her she wanted to make sandwiches to share with her friends.

Haha totally. There are so many jokes in this show that should be easy to miss, but…they aren’t. That makes things even more hilarious when you catch them.
I’m mixed about your anti-harem/romance statements lol. Well, I agree that it wouldn’t be pleasent in this show…and unneeded.
I have nothing against harem or romance, I just don’t want to see a team of 5 girls fawning over Toraji, or really any of the guys in this show. Dan-kun by himself is already enough…
Don’t let Miya Miya hear you diss Dan-kun!
