Life is changing quickly for Amu, and she is uncomfortable with many of the changes. Mirroring Amu’s feelings is Hatoba Yuki, one of the three girls that admire Amu. Yuki is going to be transferring to America soon, and is very worried that her friends won’t keep in touch. With a little egging on from EggGuy (who looks an awful lot like the new class 5 substitute homeroom teacher, Nikaidou Yuu), Yuki gets totally emo and flips out on her friends.
The X-Egg flees, and Amu takes a wrong turn towards the planetarium. As she watches the sky turn various beautiful colors with the sunset, Amu realizes that even though the outside changes, it is still the same sky. This gives her the courage to chara-become Amulet Heart and blast the weird little English-speaking X-character. The purified X-character is a flight attendant, and goes back into the egg in Yuki’s heart for Yuki to discover later.
I guess it is pretty standard shoujo fare, but I enjoyed the storyline this time, as Amu had to face her own issues to help a classmate. Amu is starting to realize that having too many angsty characters can result in boring mid-season episodes where everyone just sits around in a pity-party. The X-Character was amusing, although I don’t understand why she asked everyone about licorice.
However, all this is inconsequential compared to Ikuto’s Tuxedo Mask act. By showing up all tsundere to replace the tart he broke, he’s starting to carve a little place in Amu’s heart, too. Amu really thought that Ikuto was going to just express his feelings and stuff, but what kind of guy really does that? The ear bite was totally awesome, and I look forward to more Ikuto x Amu.

And Japan’s continued streak of butchering the English language rolls on. orz
Uh, I think the X-chara was saying “Do you like ENGLISH?!”
. . . . or were you being sarcastic? ^_^;
It was only when I rewatched the episode that I noticed the “Do you like licorice” line of that X-Egg… and I also can’t figure out why it had to ask that ^^;;;
Love Amu x Ikuto as well~ :3
So basically Shugo Chara is following the same Peach Pit formula as the rest of their series, by hiding messages behind the fun times on the surface.
Zombie Loan: Death and friends
DearS: LOVE POWER
Rozen Maiden: Changing one’s self
Shugo Chara: Stop being a poser
Oh, god I laughed so hard at the english speaking X chara…..DO YOU LIKE ENGLISH? NO I HATE ENGLISH!!! XD
Ah yes! The Mike Tyson moe was definitely the highlight of the episode! It looks especially kawaii when you use your HDTV as your monitor! (Unfortunately, I had to bring it back to my living room…)
You know, I would have never noticed if my bro didn’t tell me (he had no choice but to watch it! HDTV FTW~!) I never notice the most obvious things, like for example, Clark Kent being Superman, Tuxedo Mask being Mamoru/Darion, etc. (ok, I’m exaggerating, but its almost to those levels)
Am I the only one routing for Ran x Miki x Su? I mean, they have their own little pad now… anything goes! (on a side note, I was checking the wiki page for Shugo Chara, and found out Amu’s Guardians are named after a 1970s idol group called Candies)
DO YOU LIKE LICORICE!!! XD If this keeps up, Shugo will take Beck off the throne for worse engrish! Maybe Totalis right, there must be some more hidden messages for Licorice! *wink wink nudge nudge* =D
Wait, what do you mean? Superman doesn’t wear any glasses, how could he possibly be Clark Kent?
No, I hate English! DESTROY!!!
I have no idea why the X-character kept asking about licorice, or why asking about licorice is not considered cute. And while Peach Pit uses some well-known ideas and stories, I like the way they execute and tell the stories.
yea, I also like how they execute their stories (I’m basing this on Shugo and Zombie Loan). I’m considering watching Rozen Maiden and DearS. I’ve put it off for so long because the idea of battling dolls really didn’t catch my interest (now that I think about it, I wonder why it hasn’t!), and DearS just seemed like a harem-like story, which I definitely was not in the mood for.
Would you by any chance wear glasses, so you can be my Clark Kent, and we can Superman that hoe? I hear Totali can really CRANK DAT! XD
Both seasons of Rozen Maiden are pretty awesome (I covered both so far), and the story is still ongoing. I have not watched DearS, and Ender didn’t like it, but Totali did.
Does that mean theres a third season? If so, looks like I’ll have to marathon this soon! Hopefully, theres a very high quality version of the first two seasons. Every Fridays/Saturdays, I use my HDTV for anime marathoning! You wouldn’t believe how nice Shugo Chara looks on the big screen (and also Gundam 00! OMFG IF ANYONE COULD USE THEIR HDTV AS A MONITOR, I DEFFINITELY RECOMMEND WATCHING IT ON THE BIG SCREEN! *eyes bleed from watching too close to the tv*)
Don’t let Rozen Maiden fool you. I dropped it after 3 episodes but came back later to realize how awesome it was and how un-cool and spicy I was at the time. Also, as much as I fanboy about it, I hardly know anyone who actually likes DearS besides me. LOVE POWER SAVES THE UNIVERSE…what’s not to like!?
What’s up with mentioning me along with Ender…am I that close to being with the Sea Slug Team now? <_< lol
I thought the first season of Rozen Maiden was strong, but Traumend didn’t seem like it knew where it wanted to go till near the end, and the ending didn’t work with me there. The 2 episode OVA is pretty nice though as the prologue. :P
And I’m watching Shugo Chara and I’m liking what I see, but it isn’t too absorbing for me. At least hearing COOL AND SPICY makes me giggle whenever the phrase pops up.
