Likely Fall 2007 Blogging Lineup

Following up on the last Fall 2007 preview, I’ve gotten some more information about some of the series. I think this might be one of the first seasons I have a completely open schedule, seeing as how I will be done blogging every single series I stuck with from the previous two seasons. I’m going to try to pace myself for this season, so I will be able to pick up a few Winter series as well; to this end, I’m considering picking up some short season series that I would not have picked up otherwise. I suspect I will end up with 2-3 full series, and 1 short series. These are ranked in order of how likely I am to blog about them (since you never know when a series will just end up sucking in spite of the hype). The runners up are shows that I might watch, but almost certainly not blog about. I probably won’t watch any shows not mentioned on these 3 lists.

Likely Full Season Series

  1. Shakugan no Shana II: This one is guaranteed. I did the first season, and it ended on an upswing. Since they brought the staff back for season 2, I don’t think we will get a repeat of the blunder that was the Zero no Tsukaima sequel.
  2. Rental Magica: It’s between this and Prism Ark. I will (at most) pick up one of the two to fulfill my low expectations of cute girls and exciting fights. It will probably come down to who has better production values, as I am not expecting much of a story from either of them…
  3. Dragonaut: I was initially very excited about the character designs and the voice actors that have signed on for this series. Unfortunately the fact that this is an original series (could be good or bad) animated by Gonzo gives me reason for concern. Even worse, the preview was underwhelming, and the CG dragons looked terrible.

Likely Shortened Season Series

  1. Kimikiss Pure Rouge: The story of some guy trying to get a kiss sounds pretty lame, but the art looks good, and the director has some serious credentials.
  2. Blue Drop: This one has the strongest premise of the three, and it looks to have some good production values. I think it will have some pseudo-yuri, for those of you who like that.
  3. ef -a tale of memories: Here’s another premise that sounds craptastic, but again these love story types are often perfect for an 11-13 episode run.

Runners Up

  • Gundam 00: I don’t want to deal with a double-season of Gundam, although it sounds like it will be split up the way Shakugan no Shana was. If so, perhaps Ender will pick up this series.
  • Jyushin Enbu: The credentials make this one a likely source of above-average shounen entertainment. I know Kungfucius was considering blogging about this series.
  • Bamboo Blade: I read a little bit of this manga, and it wasn’t that great. Still, I kinda want to see how the anime is.
  • Genshiken 2: It’s hard to blog about slice of life series and comedy series. Also, the material that will be covered in this season was not really as interesting as the first season’s material (in the manga).

Hehe, schedules are made to change. My lineup looks completely different from my predicted. Then again, maybe Kabitzin isn’t as spaztastic as me when it comes to shaping his schedule. Also, the season’s only begun! ^.<

Darn, I was hoping I’d be the only one to do Blue Drop lol. Oh well. I’m still the only one that I’ve seen across the blogs I regularly visit who is blogging Shion no O, assuming people sub it (there is a group listed, but I’m not sure how reliable they will be…)

I haven’t seen many people say they’re gonna pick up Rental Magica either, and while I’m not particularly interested in watching it, at least maybe I can see whether it’s worth picking up.

Totali: Normally it’s hard to tell what will be good and what won’t, but this season a lot of the series are in genres that I don’t usually like. Now of course their may be a Zombie Loan in there that manages to capture my interests, but it wasn’t too difficult for me to narrow my choices down.

Josh: There’s still a good chance I won’t cover Blue Drop, but with the yuri aspect, I’m sure someone else will. As for Shion no O… good luck haha. It might actually be quite good, like Hikaru no Go with murder.

I’ve been reading Totali’s blog for the series intros while I’m waiting for my turn to watch some when the English subs arrive. I’ve had my pre-watch list but, as you guys say, such lists are likely to change since you have to take about an episode or two before you can actually say which one you like. =D

I’m kinda anticipating Rental Magica for some reason, haha. I second Kabitzin’s KimiKiss comment. It seems I’m probably the only one waiting for Minami-Ke, haha. Hopefully, it will be a good adaptation.
