A whole lot of boring speed-lines fighting goes down, and all the Teresa flashbacks enable Clare to power up enough to chop Priscilla’s wings off. Priscilla is hurt so badly she reverts to human form, and the sight of her naked body makes Lucky want to save her life. Unfortunately, Clare can’t control her back-claws, so Jean has to push Lucky out of the way and take the hit for him. Jean uses the last of her energy to help Clare return to human form, before succumbing to the claw wounds.
Isley then scoops up Priscilla and whisks her away. Clare is kinda depressed about the whole thing, but Jean told her that there are many people who want Clare to live. Also, if Irene is still alive, she’s probably going to want that arm back. Miria suggests they all split up so she can experience living with humans and being a brunette. Deneve offers to train with Helen, and Helen happily eats the apples that used to belong to the dead residents of Pieta. Meanwhile Galatea tells Rubel that everyone’s Yoki signature disappeared. Finally, Clare informs Lucky that she’s now unemployed, but Lucky tells her, “We’ve got each other and that’s a lot for love… we’ll give it a shot.”
The fight was really boring, but I think the team did a good job ending this series. For all the manga readers, this ending actually is not very different in the grand scheme; all the important Claymore girls are alive and incognito, and Priscilla is still alive and at large. The only changes were that Miria didn’t get to implement her sweet pill-popping plan to fake their deaths, and we didn’t get to see any Claymore suckling. Other than that, the anime is actually very similar, and the ending brought closure without completely shutting the door on a future second series.
I thought Jean got a cool send-off, and none of the scrub Claymore girls got any screentime. I’m glad that Isley chipped in how unstable Priscilla is, to kinda drive home that Clare just got lucky. I giggled at the absurd Priscilla fanservice, but overall the fight was really boring. While the ending wasn’t perfect, I think it was about as good as it could be, aside from having too many flashbacks and low quality fight choreography.

You could add this one to your cheese reviews maybe under “Sodom and Gorgonzola”.
Priscilla looked really weird in the scene you caught in the first cap. Her eyes made her look like a living emoticon but maybe that was meant to underline her orz.
I have agree with Clare: “Jeanne, why?” Lucky was a complete arse. Did you notice that Clare saw no reason to live anymore despite Lucky being there? The only reason she liked Lucky was that he reminded her of herself and Teresa but the situation and Lucky have changed. He should be lucky (duh) that she gave him a good-bye tongue hug and find himself some goth maid who adores his emo vibes. Lucky protecting Clare? Gimme a break. Jeanne and Clare would have been a nice couple.
Yeah, Lucky is not really that interesting of a character. I don’t know if he even rises to sidekick status. He’s more like a mascot character that is useful twice in the series, and just a waste for the rest.
I totally agree with your interpretation of Lucky. He’s so annoying and emo. It’s almost like the animators used him as a way to occupy some valuable minutes in any episode by making him cry. I was totally hoping he would get eaten by Yoma-Clare. As you mentioned, Clare/Jeanne would have been a much better matching.
I dunno, I think Lucky has Jean beat in the “has an abdomen” department.
Maybe DiGiKerot could give this a shot:

So Raki saved Priscilla (so that she could continue killing and eating people’s guts while crying over her daddy) and got Jean killed . . . good job genius.
Holy crap, LOVE POWER SAVES THE DAY. I knew it!!!
Dang, I’m late finishing this series. Raki isn’t that bad of a character, come on!
i thought this ending was pretty crap and could have been way better the series had a good story line and should have had a better ending. maybe therl be a second series or OAV for it if so im expecting a better write up and no more lucky’s.
i mean maybe its just me but isnt it a bit weird with the age gap between the two… ? lucky’s like wot 13 15 maybe …
