A whole lot of boring speed-lines fighting goes down, and all the Teresa flashbacks enable Clare to power up enough to chop Priscilla’s wings off. Priscilla is hurt so badly she reverts to human form, and the sight of her naked body makes Lucky want to save her life. Unfortunately, Clare can’t control her back-claws, so Jean has to push Lucky out of the way and take the hit for him. Jean uses the last of her energy to help Clare return to human form, before succumbing to the claw wounds.
Isley then scoops up Priscilla and whisks her away. Clare is kinda depressed about the whole thing, but Jean told her that there are many people who want Clare to live. Also, if Irene is still alive, she’s probably going to want that arm back. Miria suggests they all split up so she can experience living with humans and being a brunette. Deneve offers to train with Helen, and Helen happily eats the apples that used to belong to the dead residents of Pieta. Meanwhile Galatea tells Rubel that everyone’s Yoki signature disappeared. Finally, Clare informs Lucky that she’s now unemployed, but Lucky tells her, “We’ve got each other and that’s a lot for love… we’ll give it a shot.”
The fight was really boring, but I think the team did a good job ending this series. For all the manga readers, this ending actually is not very different in the grand scheme; all the important Claymore girls are alive and incognito, and Priscilla is still alive and at large. The only changes were that Miria didn’t get to implement her sweet pill-popping plan to fake their deaths, and we didn’t get to see any Claymore suckling. Other than that, the anime is actually very similar, and the ending brought closure without completely shutting the door on a future second series.
I thought Jean got a cool send-off, and none of the scrub Claymore girls got any screen time. I’m glad that Isley chipped in how unstable Priscilla is, to kinda drive home that Clare just got lucky. I giggled at the absurd Priscilla fanservice, but overall the fight was really boring. While the ending wasn’t perfect, I think it was about as good as it could be, aside from having too many flashbacks and low quality fight choreography.
