Claymore 23

Now that Clare looks like the grandpa from the Sugar, We’re Goin Down video, she’s got a need for speed. Ligardes hasn’t had venison since he fought Isley, and is very excited about the battle. However, Clare is still not very good at controlling her Awakened legs, and keeps running into all the buildings every time she tries to dodge, stop, or turn. Fortunately, Claymores have very good insurance.

Lucky finally makes it into town, and Miria is the only one who recognizes him at first. Then Helen is put on baby-sitting duty, having contributed to the fight by fishing out Ligardes’ arm and chopping it up. Lucky and the rest of the Claymore girls are worried about Clare exceeding her limit, but she is finally able to chop Ligardes into little pieces.

The animation was pretty good this episode, and they made this pivotal battle very exciting. I really don’t understand what Ligardes is thinking, or why he was so confident that throwing a building at Clare would end the fight. I thought Clare had already proven that she has no problem running through walls. Still, good fight, and I’m glad Helen got to help a little. Meanwhile, poor Deneve could only seethe in jealousy as she keeps trying to regrow her appendix. Oh yeah, Jean is still alive, haha.

I wonder why Priscilla was all freaked out by Clare’s Yoki. I think she must have recognized it, because Clare’s power level should not be that intimidating to very powerful AO. It was extremely funny watching Clare crash into all those buildings, and if Ligardes had any planning ability, he would have subtly made his way over to his arm way earlier.

Priscilla freaked out by Clare’s yoki because of the lingering traces of Teresa in her, or at least that’s what makes sense in my head.

I can’t believe that Jean made it through this battle alive but Flora didn’t, there is no justice in the world!

Haha if you didn’t read the manga, you’d think Flora was just another one of those nameless Claymore scrubs.

@ Shirukii- I think it’s more than just lingering traces. I think Clare’s awakening is essentially Teresa’s awakening.

I haven’t read the manga so I’m just stabbing in the dark here, but I think this handily explains both Prissy’s reaction to Clare’s awakening, and the level of power Clare gets out of awakening process.

Ligardes is just way too confident. He obviously doesn’t do shounen else he’d known about those super-saiyan, kyubi or SEED modes that killed him.

And Lucky was irritating again this ep. He’s gonna be the death of Clare if he keeps insisting to be present at such high-level battles.

LOL, that is so weird! However, the girl to watch out for is the one with Ophelia’s symbol on the ankle.
