Kaze no Stigma 20

Vernhardt mentions that Lapis’ class is Sword Master, and she uses a giant angelic projection to cleave the tower in two. The bad guys escape and recreate Pandemonium, allowing a handful of scrubs to get a class change. While Kirika gives the Kannagi clan a second-hand account of Kazuma’s past, Kazuma sits on a roof and remembers his peaceful life with Tsuo Rin.

Apparently, after he got kicked out by Genma, Kazuma would get drunk at noon and then pick fights with everyone. However, Tsuo Rin likes Kazuma for who he is, and doesn’t care about whether he has power or not. Even back then Kazuma was a smooth operator, and before kissing Tsuo Rin, he tells her he will protect her always. Flash forward to Tsuo Rin bleeding and crying as she is devoured by a demon, and Kazuma just about loses it. Kazuma’s hungry for revenge now, and from the look of things he’s willing to start beating the crap out of otaku to get clues.

While the flashback was nice, some parts of this episode didn’t make much sense. The mystery of Almagest is not exciting, and why does Lapis need a class change? It’s not like she is fooled into thinking she’s playing a game. Meanwhile, I wonder if the escaped Utsumi will get to Nanase, as her poorly disguised bodyguards are not that powerful.

Speaking of power, it was really nice to see Kazuma 4 years ago, before he became a contractor. He was so happy with Tsuo Rin, just living as a odd-jobs man. Kazuma displayed some acrobatic moves, so I wonder if he had any wind powers back then. It’s no wonder Kazuma is going berserk, because it had to have been really devastating for him to see Tsuo Rin devoured by the demon. Unfortunately, this is really reducing Ayano’s chances at getting Kazuma to bone her, and even Juugo is giving the relationship some time to rest.

About Kabitzin:
One of the founders of Sea Slugs, I handle most of the blog admin tasks while wearing my I AM BOSS shirt. I like my action series well-choreographed, and my romance series extra trashy. I also have a soft spot for puns.
