Michiru’s got a new positive outlook on life, but nowhere to call home. Fortunately, Chika and Shito introduce Michiru to the young Chair of the Kokuba Academy, Kuze Shimotsuki. Shimotsuki agrees to let Michiru stay in the Kuro Dorm, a crappy old chapel that was closed off 62 years ago. As long as Michiru remains an asset to the Academy, she is allowed to stay at Kuro Dorm, and she even meets a new friend, the bubbly 3rd year Koyomi Yoimachi. There is a little welcoming party thrown for Michiru, and Koyomi ends up getting drunk and passing out from too much Fantan. Oddly enough, Koyomi then awakens as her other personality, Yomi, to steal Michiru’s first kiss and engage in a little welcoming party of her own.
As yuri-lovers everywhere rejoice, Bekko notes that Michiru has the unique ability to lure out the reclusive Yomi personality by making out with a passed-out Koyomi. This is fortunate because Yomi possesses the Dead Man’s Tongue, allowing the dead to speak through her. After the Zombie Nurse incident, the bounty on zombies has increased, and it appears someone is creating illegal zombies. Furthermore, this appears to be tied to the recent string of brutal murders around town. Later that night, while being forced to do Chika’s part-time work at a convenience store, Michiru spots a shoplifter, and Chika conveniently meets up with his old friend, Shiba Reiichiro.
The foreshadowing this episode was about as thick and heavy as the black rings. From the looks of things (bishie guy smoking, girl saying “Rei, help me!”), Reiichiro must be involved in the murders and zombie making. I’m guessing that he is the bishie lure, or the mastermind. Also, from Yomi’s reinactment of “72, [mumble, mumble] SAVE ME!!!” it sounds like the bad guys are torturing the victims by cutting off their limbs and forcing them to sit through filler episodes of long-running shounen series. That scruffy otaku-looking shoplifter is probably the one downloading the painful fillers, since it was awfully practical for Reiichiro to step in and help him get away.
Plot aside, this was an entertaining episode thanks to all the Yomi fanservice. I wonder if Michiru will always have to make out with Koyomi to get to Yomi, and if Yomi will start demanding more and more Michiru service. Things would go a lot easier if Michiru didn’t wear her glasses all the time, so maybe she should invest in some bifocals or something. I was somewhat surprised that Yuuta was a zombie, because it’s going to take him a long time to pay off his zombie loan on assistant wages. It’s too bad he’s named his hands (brusque Kenken and shy Konkon) and forced to use a crappy boombox to record with, because if Yuuta saved all that outfit money (which he isn’t using to pay off his loan), he could buy some real entertainment and better recording equipment.
