Everyone is trying to help Mugi (except Nono, who thinks she was plenty nice to Mugi last time…), and Mirei gives Mugi some heartfelt words of wisdom. Meanwhile, Chitose can’t believe the depths of Mugi’s emo, and gains a new respect for Kayo. Chitose and Kai finally devise a plan to drag Mugi onto the stage, to give Mugi the strength to be someone different. Once on stage, Mugi says that she feels awful for not being a good friend, and being there for Kayo; conveniently, Kayo hears it all and comforts her.
Mugi, however, doesn’t want to keep being comforted. She finally gathers the courage to apologize to Kayo and wish her good luck. They embrace, and Kayo is able to smile again after promising to send Mugi plenty of pictures. Later, Mugi tells Nono she now knows the lesson behind the play, Hitohira. Finally we see Mugi telling Mirei how clearly the Primavera dress was made with love, as Mugi learns that Mirei never told Nono about the dress.
What an awesome episode! I was bawling like Chitose (but with really manly tears), but the message was still uplifting. Mirei’s message about how “those leaving can’t even cry, they can only show you their back” was really interesting, and I wonder if she will ever get to tell Nono about what went into making that dress. The next time the upperclassmen will be back in school will be the graduation ceremony, so there’s not a lot of time left for Nono and Mirei. Poor Mirei seems to have some exceptionally bad luck when it comes to opening doors… Meanwhile, I really wonder if Chitose will go through with confessing to Takashi. Chitose really confused me this episode with her abuse of Kai; what was that about?
In spite of how powerful Dementor-Mugi was, I could empathize with her plight. I was proud of how Mugi (despite reverting back to her old hairstyle) was able to gather her courage and really say how she felt to Kayo. Mugi’s resolution to be a better friend and actually help Kayo out was touching. KIT, BFF 4 LIFE. I’m glad the resolution was so uplifting, because if a bad ending had come about and Mugi had caught Kai making out with Chitose and then had a screaming fit with Kayo, I’d be depressed for weeks.
